When Denise and I headed east on April 26th we had no idea that 99% of the campgrounds in the USA don't open until Memorial Day weekend. We couldn't believe the number of closed gates we faced at the end of each day.

Needless to say we are now close to achieving expert status when it comes to Walmart Parking.

Somewhere in the New England States we encountered a WM lot with "Blah blah blah City Ordinance Blah blah blah we hereby give notice that Overnight Camping is not permitted." When I inquired of the manager he said "How can they differentiate you from the shoppers we get 24/7? Just park and don't answer knocks on your doors."

How many have posted a picture of their rig at a Walmart?
Example: see post #8
I'm ashamed to admit it. I posted my photo.

Not ashamed to admit it, but I posted some of mine back in October of last year. Haven't taken the camper anywhere since, so haven't had an opportunity to make more .

This might be true in the frozen North, but there are many, many campgrounds elsewhere that are open.

Southern AZ CGs never close. They just empty out when it's still 100° at midnight.

We love Walmart and all the other big box stores and supermarkets that let us stay on the fringes of their lots... always end up buying stuff from them too!!

We put our slides out if there's room but don't do the camp chairs or awning or grill -- just don't want to abuse the privilege of being able to park in their lots...

We once watched a family playing ball outside their rig in a Walmart parking lot, yelling to each other while mom bbq'd on the grill and a little one zoomed around on a bike... The ball even hit our truck and other vehicles in the lot. Yikes!!

Just last week I made a trip to BC with one of my vehicles( moving there) and stopped for an hr. or two at the Walmart in Hinton Alberta for a few winks. I couldn't believe all the Rv's that were parked in their lot. It was kind of stormy that night though.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing and how people are parked, I usually try to find a couple big class As or tractor trailers to park between to use as wind breaks when I need to overnight in extremely windy weather.

It wasn't a Walmart but was still dry camping in a parking lot ( riverside casino Laughlin) a class B motorhome pulled in beside us within a couple of feet of us on the left side. DW thought they were going to hit our slide out and was very concerned. I couldn't believe that they would park so close, I stood up and walked over to the window, the guy noticed our movements and came out to see if it was ok, I said that I was not comfortable with it. He was just using us for shade. I would have moved but he respected my wishes and moved next to another Rv..... I'm not saying you parked like this but this guy was just way to close..... didn't like it....
