As I said in another post you can't fix stupid weather it be someone else or yourself. 2 years ago I was at an outside bar. I'm a biker and was having dinner with a few friends. Some newbee biker decided to do burn outs in the parking lot. After 10 minutes the deck was covered in smoke and it was very annoying. I stepped down to the parking lot and asked him to quit. He said [moderator edit] off. I then said if he didn't I would knock him off his new bike. He pulled a 38 out and pointed at me. As a Nam vet I said "if you are going to pull a gun you had better use it. He did. He shot me in the chest. The police showed up and arrested ME for threatening HIM! So the morale here may be you can't fix stupid. Stupid laws, stupid people or your own stupid acts. It's a shame we have come to this in this great nation but that's just the way it is. My friend the manager at Wal Mart won't let over night stays because of a few stupid people and I'm sure nothing we could say or do would change a thing.

Mega Roadie I'm going to have to cancel that knocking on door thing. I don't want to get shot. I have one question for you guys. Who are these abusers or campers that you are talking about. Easier question... if I stay overnight at Walmart and put my bedroom slide out, is this considered camping and thus an abuse of Walmarts generosity and putting your parking privilege at risk?

I keep hearng about people "camping" at Walmart, slides and awning out, jacks down, grill and chairs out. I have never been to a Walmart and have seen this. Does anyone have pictures, I would like to see them.

Paul Harvey got it right. He said: "The human race is not evolving, it is DEvolving."
Unfortunately the abusers of priveleges in campgrounds and Walmarts consist mostly of those snot-nosed brats that grew up to believe they are entitled to do whatever they want. Just because they have an RV this entitles them to camp where they want to and do what they want. Their attitude is let someone else clean up the mess. They won't be back to this spot again, so who cares.

Can you give us an example of what you saw at Walmart that bothers you? I have not heard to many specific cases. People are talking about knocking on doors, to complain but they are not specifying which doors.

I've been (quietly) following this thread for quite a while.

For the poster who wants to knock on doors of offending RVs, several RV clubs have gotten together to prepare a "good neighbor" letter. You can print off a few before you leave home and just hang one on an offender's windshield.

You can find it at this link, by clicking on the "good neighbor" line Escapees RV Club

I'll attempt to attach the pdf, here. If it was successful, you'll see how many clubs endorse it.

My problem with offensive WalMart RVing guests is that their behavior often ruins it for the rest of us. When RVers behave badly by taking advantage of an invitation meant for our safety by providing us a place to rest overnight, and turn the host's parking lots into what the locals see as "trailer parks" municipalities pass ordinances banning all overnight parking.

If we are good guests, the invitation will be extended. If some RVers are really bad guests, unfortunately, we will all be "tarred with the same brush" and lose the invitation.

I have not been at this long but the places I've been at they are asked about the slides being out and none of them expressed any concern about it. They did all however point out the areas they preferred we park in.

When everybody here says neighbors or neighborhoods I can't help but think of people and their homes, long before I ever got an RV I don't recall very many Walmarts in residential areas.

If more of us parked at Walmart with slides out and jacks the public would think it was an RV show.

Ok now I know I'm a broken record but which windshields will receive these letters? So many on here talk about abuse but still do not describe their personal description of the abuse. I guess my question is mostly directed at the ones who are discussing taking action by knocking on doors or placing literature on windshields. Some have responded that slides are ok. The ones who are talking action have not yet responded. When a speed limit is posted, police usually don't take action if you are say 3 miles over the limit some do. So to the ones who are considering taking action against people who are spending the night at Walmart in their RV, what is your limit????????????????????
