I'm accepting campaign contributions to close it at 1,999 posts, and I'm accepting donations to keep it open.
That sounds legal.

I use Allstays RV and Camp app on my iPad. Gives me every Walmart location, who allows overnight parking, phone number and address. Also gives me other campgrounds, gas/diesel locations, restaurants, malls, etc. Best app ever for traveling. Recently used it on our long trip from FL to Cinci. Never stayed at a Walmart over night but did come real close to it. Called Mgr and he directed us to the far end of the parking lot with the trucks. Spent our money at his store, but moved on. Rest areas in Tn and Ga got our business instead w/o any problems.

Let's remember this is supposed to be a family site! Oh wait- Walmart is a family store! How about warnings before posting links like this for those who have just eaten or have weak stomachs? After seeing this site I have to admit I will never stay in a Wamart parking lot again. It is obvious they are attracting alien life forms. (not good ones either)

I'm talking about people who park their RV in a Walmart parking lot without getting permission from the store. There are LOTS of them. I've personally spoken with many RVers who believe that they can camp (not park) overnight in any Walmart parking lot, any time they want to, and that they don't have to obtain store permission. I'm also talking about people who extend their awnings, set out lawn furniture, and set up a BBQ grill in a Walmart parking lot -- and I've seen lots of them, too.
My point is that when we want to park overnight at Walmart, we need to follow Walmart's corporate policy, which is to obtain permission from the store -- and we need to do this even if there are already other RVs in the lot, because we don't know whether they obtained permission. If I want to park overnight there, I need the store's permission.
If we hope to stay more than one night, we need permission for that as well. (Personally, I've spent two nights in a lot only once; that was to avoid driving into a line of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. I asked the store manager for permission to stay a second night, and she said, "Of course! I don't want you out there driving in that weather!" )
The most widely accepted guidelines on "blacktop boondocking," the FMCA Good Neighbor Policy says nothing about slides. The practice you describe is the responsible way to deploy slides in a parking lot -- extend them over a grass area where there's no vehicle or pedestrian traffic.
Some RV's (ours included) requires use of leveling jacks before we extend our slides. In asphalt parking lots, that means using pads under the jacks to protect the surface and not leave permanent indentations.
|
And again I ask: But, how do YOU KNOW that they haven't gotten permission to stay more than one night and put their slides out?
You never answered that.

No longer an informative thread. Topic has been beat to death and now the theory seems to be , just make a comment to reach 2000.

George,
It may not be 'informative' any longer but it still interesting to me when folks pipe-up and criticize those of us that DO use Walmart parking lots.
I'm glad to add some 'excitement' to their life's. Clearly, they are bored to death.
(maybe I'm justa 'instigator')

Criticizing of other members, to me, does not make a topic worthwhile.

Justa little humor, George,... justa little humor.
I suppose setting cats on fire isn't funny either?
OK THAT was overboard, wasn't it.
Get a little humor in your life, George, you'll live longer.

Folks, let's stop directing comments at each other as our rules do not permit that.
Thanks!

Whats new in a movie that you've watched twice? Do you burn you DVDs after watching them? After 2000 posts this thread can start all over again from scratch. This thread is getting more hits in reruns then " I love Lucy"
