We have been motor homing for 14 years. When nubies, we created arrival and departure checklist (among many). They have been updated for different coaches. At first we used them to remind ourselves what to do. As we became experienced, we went about the tasks we knew by heart. But - before sitting down for a cold one, or moving the coach to depart, we still review the applicable check list to be sure we have not forgotten something important. It is easy to overlook something. One other important rule for us is: Never move the coach until one of us has walked around it. We created the rule after we extended a side part way out at a rest area for making lunch, and then forgot to retract it. The wind buffeting the coach quickly informed us of our error. We pulled over, retracted the slide, and headed back down the road - no harm done.

We all have done stupid thing no matter how long or short time we are campers. I have been camping for the last 50 yrs with my parents and then as a husband with kids. Now I am a retire who still is camping. My last goof was when I had out Class C Motorhome and my wife left early in the morning to head home with to toad. I got out of the driver side of the coach to disconnect the shore power. We pulled in the night before just to stop and get some sleep. Well the awning got put on the night before and when I jumped back into the coach and started to move out, all I heard was a lot of screaming for a lady outside and my sister in her car and camper honking her horn. I stopped eminently and was told that my awning was still out. I just missed a big mess up with mine and the ladies rig. I can laugh about it now but I know that never take anything for granted.

I left that plug out one time. Pulled up onto a beach and wondered where all the water was coming from!

My buddies wondered why I pushed off and left them!

It just took a few minutes and the water all ran out!

That boat didn't have a bilge pump. Next one did.
