Semi is in wrong lane
If in Far right lane 2 of those No Zones would have been eliminated

An absolutely unworkable proposition. This proposes that no vehicle should overtake any other vehicle. Crazy!

NO, you are misinterpreting it.

The diagram suggest that you not REMAIN in the "No Zone". Overtaking is not an issue.

That’s a great idea in that perfect world where there’s one big truck. Otherwise, in the real world, for one, it’s not all about an eighteen wheeler , for two, the eighteen wheeler is responsible for not changing lanes into traffic and that no zone in front of him is for sure his problem, he needs to back off.

The zone in front should be bigger, trucks can't stop quickly. And we shouldn't cut in on them, or anyone else. 20' is too little in front of a sedan at normal speeds.

The back zone depends on that vehicles speed and braking. The trucker can't do anything to/about them and shouldn't care.

If the trucker can't see the sides then they need more/bigger mirrors. There are no promises that you can change lanes whenever you want!

Your absolutely right, the trucks should never leave the right lane! That way they can deal with every half wit cutting across in front to exit or failing to yield when entering

Good diagram - it'll make people give a thought as they pass the trucks.

Everyone is taught that in drivers education classes, it's part of the classroom phase.

If you're following a big truck and cannot see its mirrors you are following too close.

I was always taught that if you can't see the trucker's face, the trucker can't see you.

With all the governed trucks on the road nowadays I just ride along between 2 of them and save fuel.
Some of the independents are still flying and driving aggressively.
Follow Bonehead Truckers on YouTube for examples.

I believe that the picture has merit and I also believe that people should keep that particular scenario in mind and be willing to do what it takes to follow it or something similar.

Here’s the problem. More than not, that scenario won’t represent itself in the real world. Someone is always willing to break the rules, so life goes on with people being rude and not respectful of polite rules of the road.

All we can do is be a good steward of the road and hope others will follow suit.
