Westinghouse Igen 4500
Anybody running one of these? I've read the online reviews. It has some problems but they are minor. Delivers good power for a single inverter/generator. Also, this is a INVERTER-GENERATOR thread ONLY. I am aware of the PREDATOR as well. This one has more power and I really need about 7000 watts but I don't want to spend $3999.99 for the only one out there, a Honda. So, that is how I have arrived at this one for consideration. If you have one, I'd like to hear from you. I know all about Hondas, so please spare me the "get a Honda" comments!

How loud is it running? That is a concern to consider!

If reliability isn’t a concern then go for it! I see many reviews with issues from oil spewing out to starting issues so if you decide to get it then make sure you break it in at home and get the bugs out before your trip.

Don't have any experience with WH, But I wouldn't buy something that has so many "Little" problems. I'm all about shopping for a good deal, but sometimes saving a few $$ isn't the most important thing.

I'm running the inverter Champion, which is about the same size. 3500 watts with 4000 watts surge. It was under $600.
But the Westinghouse you linked has a lot of nice features the Champion does not have.
Wheels, telescoping handle, REMOTE START, LED Display – Remaining Run Time, Output, Fuel Level, and Volts, larger fuel tank. It only weighs 11 lbs more, but will seem like less because of the wheels and handle.
If I would have been aware of this unit when I got the Champion, I would have taken a hard look at it, just for those nice additional features.
I have had zero problems with my Champion.

The little problems are things like the choke becoming stuck during shipping and wires coming unplugged. Easy fixes. I haven't read anything about the motor not working and only one about the inverter not putting out the power it was supposed to which isn't uncommon in any of them. Oh, and spending $1000 instead of $4000 is more than a few dollars at my house. That said, if the $1000 thing don't perform like it was supposed to, you wasted your money.......thus this thread!

I haven't seen those reviews you speak. Where did you find them? I'd like to see them. And yes, it will be broke in and ready to go before I leave home with it.
I've noticed many of the reviews were obviously written by people with no knowledge of things mechanical or how they worked..... "Brought it home, tried to start it, wouldn't start, took it back, junk." The reviews I've read by people like mechanics and electricians, etc. were very informative and helpful.

Champion has a good rep from I've seen. I looked at this one, https://www.championpowerequipment.c...rame-inverter/ but I'd prefer one with the electric start and the remote start is a bonus too. I'm not going to do any real boon-docking. But, being an old Walmart driver, I've spent many a night in a Walmart parking lot, and plan on doing it again if convenient. I want to be prepared to stop wherever I want to and still have the A/C if needed.

My champion has remote start Wheels and a handle and runs on a choice of 3 fuels. I payed just a little over $1000
You can't just get one off the shelf. I ordered mine with the remote starter then I had them install the regulator for natural gas and propane. Having the propane option is huge for me. You started your thread saying you wanted input about the WH and not wanting to hear from Honda owners. I have 2 Honda 2000's (I gave them to my son after buying my Champion) I also have a 20 year old Yamaha 1000 that I keep in the RV in case the Champion dies. I don't want to turn your thread into another my generator is better then yours, Just responding to all of your comments.

I think his reliability remarks are off the cuff. At least he hasn't offered anything to back them up. I've read about 100 reviews on them and haven't seen one with the problem he mentions. I wouldn't be surprised if the oil spewing review, if valid, was because they left the filler cap off!
