I never considered the term distasteful. It described the relationship to the soldier since everything was "dependent" on the soldier's social security number and the soldier's job. In medicine, the term "Dependent Care" wasn' and isn't a derogatory term. Everything remains dependent on the soldier's SSN even today.

This close to Valentine's Day "Darling Wife" is most appropriate. However, on occasion, the word Devil does come to mind. She can make things "Hell" on occasion.
