What if any tax breaks are available on materials for major RV improvements?

I am pretty much gutting my RV and have a significant amount of materials costs for improvements on it now. What if any tax breaks are available on materials for major RV improvements and what are the requirements to get those? I've looked on the web and just can't seem to find the answer to this. If it's relevant to the question this is for Washington State.

Do you have an accountant that's familiar with your states' tax rules?

Do you use your RV for business purposes?

I do have a home office. I don't currently have an accountant. Maybe I should try just subscribing to Rocket Lawyer or something for a month.

I think you'll find the answer is, None, unless your coach is your permanent residence; then there might be some offered by the state where you maintain your permanent address.

But, I suspect it's highly unlikely that any tax breaks will apply to a licensed motor vehicle.

Googling "home improvement tax breaks" and adding the state should find what you need.

Regards,

Randy

There used to be tax credits for insulation, storm/thermal windows ,doors and solar. I used all my weatherproofing credits years ago. IDK if new tax laws still include it.

Your motor home can be claimed as a second home (mortgage interest), but I never thought about trying to claim repairs or damage. I think it would be very difficult to do and open you up to IRS inquiries. With the new standard deduction, it's pretty hard to claim (itemize) much anymore.

Solar .. I claimed the solar and controllers and wiring.. I did it myself or I could have filed an the labor also ...5? Years ago as a second home solar upgrade. 30 % of the total cost was a direct credit on my federal taxes. No questions and the tax consultant filed agreed.

Agreed.
I added solar in 2020 and a 26% credit is available. I applied it to my return and already got my refund!
