We've stayed in a park with shared utilities. All water and electric was on one pole. Only one 50 amp, so whoever got there first got to use it if needed.

Buddy sites share the patio area on one side and the utility area on the other. Can be really close.

We stayed here a couple years ago when doing the Hells Canyon Jet Boat Tour.
All sites are buddy type. We were in #40 and the people in #30 and #31 had their RV's facing each other. Looked like a family with the kids in a TT facing mom and dad who in a super nice Class A DP. 1st time I've ever been in any kind of RV Park/CG like this.
https://hellscanyon.net/wp-content/u...ort_map_40.jpg

FWIW it was a really nice RV park.

Better call and ask rather then accept what is posted as gospel. It is possible that the park in question puts two rigs on those long sites and calls that a buddy site. Daniel Webster was long dead before RVs became a thing so there isn’t an etched in stone dictionary definition of many RVing terms, including “buddy sites”.

Generally, any buddy sites I've seen are pull-through, each having its own services so each rig can share the patio. We like these if traveling with friends or family. There's a few of these sites at the park we're at now.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in Williams is one. I had just never heard of a buddy site before.
What caught my eye was they are a longer site for less money. If you are sharing the patio area that explains why. DR

We have stayed at a relatively new and well donebRV resort and there new addition is mostly buddy sites. I think their big attraction at that park was for hosting rallies as they put a nice large addition on the common rec building and common fire pit.

If the campground offered a "Buddy" site would they allow someone to use only part of the site as a loner"? It'd be kind of a let down for a couple campers who would want to camp together and the "Buddy" sites were taken by loners. Would just anyone want to rent a site facing someone or sharing utilities and a patio if they weren't buddies?

We rent a Buddy site as a loner pretty frequently at our closest county park. We use it for cleaning g up the rig before storage and winterizing in the fall. We would prefer a single site, but they are usually taken up by others wanting the same thing (no reservations). So if someone is on the other side, we just wave once and go about our business. Note this is different from “double sites” found in some national parks and national forests. Those you pay double the price, but they allow two camping units on the site.

What is a Buddy Site?

One park we stay at only has a few buddy sites and they are usually already reserved when we check. We often camp with friends and prefer buddy sites when available.

They are sites positioned so your entry doors are facing each other. Usually pull-through sites.

I suppose many buddy sites do share a single power pole with dual services, but you are not sharing the pole with your “buddy”, the apposing buddy site is the one with it’s door facing you whom is sharing a power pole with the rig behind them.

I get sharing the power pole with someone behind you but how do you handle the water and the sewer hook ups?

A Previous poster said you’re sharing everything, but you’re really not, they were mistaken. There are two of everything between the two rigs. One pole with two 50A services, 2 water hydrants and 2 sewer connections. All in very close proximity. What you’re actually sharing with your “buddy” is the central common yard area with picnic table(s) etc.

The picture you supply is actually a side-by-side site which many parks have. They aren't sharing table space. The patio areas are both to the outside. The hookups are in between them.

What is a Buddy Site?

In an RV park where only a few sites are set up this way with the entry doors facing each other. they sometimes call them buddy sites.

This particular park all of their sites were set up this way I was just trying to give a visual of how buddy sites typically are set up. And yes we were sharing table space and it was awkward.

Most of the RV parks we have used when I look out my door I’m looking at the back of the neighboring RV not the front.

Pioneer rv beach resort is the only park we’ve been to that listed buddy sites and they only have 4 or 6 I think. They are the only sites were the entry doors face each other in the whole resort. Yes they do share a concrete slab.

This is what I think of when 'buddy sites' are mentioned & we've seen these kinds of sites.
