I always considered my boats as an RV (Recreational Vessel) As far as the other explanations as to what an RV is, to each his own!I used to have a scooter that I considered recreational!

A motor home is an RV. Any trailer or fiver is not an RV.
By this criteria my rock crawler is a Recreational Vehicle, it's motorized and I only use it for recreation

Personally and tongue out of cheek I consider anything an RV that can move from campsite to campsite either under its own power or with the help of a truck/tow rig, has a bed and cooking/sanitary facilities no matter how rudimentary and most importantly is enjoyed by the owner.

Let's see Latin was something that has not been spoken in how many years?
Wagons and other vehicles were pulled by horse or oxen, even humans.

A RV is just what it says Recreation Vehicle.

I mean that’s whet “RV” stands for.

Excellent answer.

A Pup, A TT a 5er, an ATV a motor home, The space shuttle, (you do after all live in it) Motor not required.

If the nit picker says it has to have a motor, Hook it up to the tow vehicle and say "Now what is it? It has motor, you can drive it What is it?" and walk away before he can stutter out his answer.

This has been a good thread and has given a couple of good laughs on the answers given. Long before I posted a photo to accompany my signature line I started using in the line "RV's: 2011 Vista 26P & '65 Mustang" as part of it. For the most part, I normally refer to our Vista as a "camper".

A trailer of any type by itself is not capable of transporting or conveying anything. A stationary trailer is nothing more than a storage unit on wheels.
I agree with your denotative extraction from the dictionary IWill, however, in the vehicle definition, it does not specifically state it must be motorized?

Only for conveyance or carrying. Technically speaking, a trailer is capable of transporting and conveying and it would be technically known as a non motorized transport vehicle.

Just kidding....I enjoy bandy of semantics.....

The letters 'RV' have a different meaning to many folks, and I don't believe anybody is wrong. We are all right!

I refer to my motorhome as a 'motorhome', 'camper', 'rv', or 'coach' depending on who I'm talking to and what we are talking about.

Ok, next post....
