The very best thing was an extended service plan through Extra Ride.
The second best was the Blue Ox True Center steering stabilizer.

New Tow Set-Up
Today we just wrote the check for a Blue Ox base plate and tow bar along with an SMI Stay-in-Play braking system. This is all for the new 2014 Captiva tow car.
It seems like a sweet set-up. All I do is throw two switches (SMI and fuse disconnect) and hook it up. Off we go! Light on the dash shows when the brake in the tow-car engages.
Of course, the Captiva is used as that's the only way to buy it - new sales are all to fleets. Ours is a 2014 with 18,000 miles.
So my "$500" purchase is really a lot more like $23,000!

I watched a video on these and it looks really slick. Can you please tell me where you purchased the Porta-A-Deck, stairs from. My wife could really benefit from a set up like this.
Thank you so much.

Hardwood flooring ... next best would be our residential reefer. Other than tires, everything else is in the $300 or under range.

Replaced white carpet in living and hallway with sheet vinyl professionally installed. Looks great and much more functional.

It did not cost $500. but I put a front Class lll receiver on the front of my E450 Super Duty so I could have a receiver bike carrier and be able to launch a small boat at a ramp and keep my rear wheels dry. (still have not purchased my Gheenoe but plan to look for one when I am in FL Jan, Feb Mar ) Rear receiver is carrying my spare tire and adapter to tow via ball

Upgrades over $500.00 ?
Hmmm. Let's see.
- LED TVs
- residential fridge
- new furnace
- Magnum PS2812 inverter
- Progressive EMS
- Atro suspension bushings from Ruff Parts
- Bilstein shocks
- Van Will trailing arm cross braces
- Steer Safe steering stabilizer
- installed more house batteries
- new CAC
I don't know which one of those would be the best upgrade. They're all great!
Jim

Installed on-board, a TravelSoft water softener and twin filters for the water system. Great tasting water everywhere, clean clothes and awesome showers! Not quite the $500.00 threshold for this thread but close.

In my current RV, a 2 way MOR/Ryde sliding tray in the basement. Now I get to watch it ride off in the sunset for somebody else to enjoy.
