I suspect many do an incomplete job.

some things that many people miss which can be problems. Most will get most of the water out of the faucets and toilets.. and empty the water heater and put ut in bypass but if that I'll you do you can have problems if it gets super cold

Here are some things people sometimes neglect that can bite them:

1) iBow out your system with compressed air and don't put antifreeze. The biggest problem with this is your water pump will still have water in it and if it gets cold enough it will be toast. Also some risk that a small amount of water trapped somewhere will cause problems.

2) forgetting to drain your water filter( if you use antifreeze it may fill up with antifreeze but if you don't do antifreeze it will be full of water.

3) forget to winterize all appliances that use water including refrigerator/freezer, washer and dishwasher.

4) forget to winterize your water fill bypass valve and got water bypass valve

5) forget to winterize your shower miser if you have one.

When the Power went out and they ran out of propane, and gas for their generators [those that had gen sets].. everywhere that sold propane or gasoline... Did Not have power either..

Fortunately.. We have a DP with Aqua Hot and had 180 gal of [winterized]diesel in the tank.. Ran the gennie for 108 hours straight

So I guess you're saying it took you four and a half days to get to Arizona?

Our first RV in Indiana, we thought we had it together by keeping the heat on in the rig. We were not aware that the basement was not heated. As we started to fill the fresh water tank for a trip in January icicles started pouring out! Our fresh water tank was busted and had to be replaced. Until then I carried bottled water and Saved gray water for flushing. We still had a great trip. From them on, we’ve always bought RVs with heated basements until we recently bought a small Navion and put a heater in the wet bay when it was below freezing. So we’ve never actually winterized as we are usually using our RV frequently and keep it plugged in, plus now we live in south Texas and try to be there if not on the road. So not needed.
