I know the feeling. When I bought my new zero turn lawnmower, it was a Hustler. The dealership gave me a cap to wear, but my DW wouldn’t let me wear it when we were together. Lol.

I didn't say to cover the roof with silicone. I said to FILL the hole just to the surface. When you apply Dicor, it isn't just applied to the 1/8th inch hole, where the silicone is, it's applied to the ROOF typically using about a half inch dallop as it spreads, thus sticking to the FIBERGLASS or RUBBER roof.

The paintable silicone is not pure acetic base silicone (RTV, room temperature vulcanizing) and will not accept painting. It is more durable than silicone II.
Most paintable silicone labeled silicone II which is a neutral core base. Not near as durable as RTV

I agree glwinger. There is a reason silicone sealant is the cheapest on the shelf.

Not necessarily. When in doubt call the maker of the silicone. I called GE with a specific type, it will stick to other silicone....they are all different. Also, with GE, do not use it if it is past the date of manufacture....it will not cure.

How can you get it before the date of manufacture?

I think some missed the point of filling the cavity with silicone. Fill it with Dicor, RTV or whatever you want, it doesn't matter. The point is to fill the VOID so if the Dicor should allow a leak, water isn't going to pour into the roof and do more damage to exposed wood and insulation. If the void is full, water can't get in. I never said to slop the silicone all over the roof and then try to cover it.

Good point...make that the expiration date....it's on every tube. When I called GE saying the silicone was not curing, the first question asked was the expiration date.
