What’s the most idiosyncratic thing you look for in a RV?

Hi,

The one *must have* in my RV is a bedside table, something at least big enough to put a cup of coffee on without having to get out of bed. There is no search filter on RV sites for “bedside table”! I have to go in and look at the pictures and hope they have a correctly-angled shot to let me know if it’s got what I need.

Is there one thing, something specific, that a newly purchased RV *must have* before you’d even consider it, something that is not in search engines? Do tell!

opposing slides
Bathroom access with slides closed
Bedroom access closed
Fridge access closed
Walking room both sides of bed
"Night stands" both sides of bed - mines just large enough for a water glass @ night

Access closed lets you stop in rest areas or parking lots and take a rest or eat.

I have to agree with access to everything with slides in. Neither mfr websites, brochures nor selling websites show this. Once in a great while, will an RV-r doing a private sale show in their selling photos, but it's very rare.

NPR and classical on the radio presets.

(People who listen to classical and NPR usually take good care of their stuff. )

We too must have bed side table for books.
Also, privacy door between bath area and living area. We seldom close the window blinds in the living area.
Direct access to bath area from bedroom.

Coach must be completely usable with slides in.
Limit two slides on drivers side only. Do not want to crawl under slides to get to often used items in basement storage.

Those bedside tables are getting hard to find. Not having them or them being so tiny they are useless removed 75% of the rigs we looked at for our maybe someday list. An actual bedroom door, not a curtain, is also a requirement.

Looking at the basic floor plan many times you can see what will get blocked when the slide comes in. First trip in mine I couldn't get bread the cabinet it was in was blocked, moved into microwave for access. You could step over the corner of the coach but the couch in this was removed and replace with a second love seat.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Our MH has stands on each side of the bed. I haven't looked at any new rigs but I would have thought this would be pretty much standard.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Windows that open by the head of the bed. Bonus points if they are on both sides to get a nice cross-ventilation.

Clock for driver
Cupholder for driver
Better insulation inside cabinets
Better insulation everywhere for sound & temp
A HEPA filtration system should be easy for an RV & would improve air quality
Ability to turn on furnace fan to circulate air without heat would be nice
Better quality thermostat
Wall paper/vinyl wall covering that doesn't wrinkle/deform around windows frames
Make it more leak proof/roof more leak proof and sides more leak proof
Better attention to detail on workmanship
across the line electrical diagrams for troubleshooting (not wiring diagrams)
LABEL EVERY DEVICE ON THE ENTIRE RIG, CHASSIS & COACH
e.g. air dump valves, starting solenoid, hydraulic slide valves, etc etc
TV in more viewable location

I think you're talking about night stands- try that. BTW, the ones on our Sightseer are huge- about 13X30 I estimate. It's also a king bed. The key is that it's not in a slide.

I miss not having an analog wall clock in the living area. I've thought about buying one but haven't yet.
