What spark plug?

I just installed a Cummins Onan 2500 LP generator, HGJBB, and would like to carry a spare spark plug. The Operating Manual does not identify the Spark plug that is used. Does anyone have a recommendation for a specific spark plug?

Onan # 167-1652, the gasoline and LP models use the same sparkplug. Engine is made by Subaru/Robin

We had an Onan LP 3600 from 1995 to 2009 and my memory is that it took a Champion RN14YC. Also, it would sometimes refuse to start and the only cure was a new spark plug.

You do not have to buy an Onan spark plug at over $11. The style and heat range are all that is needed. That said, most auto parts stores don't stock plugs by heat range any more; rather they ask "What's it for?"

Pull the plug currently in the engine. There should be a name (Champion, NGK, Autolite etc.) and a number on the plug. Find a cross reference on the Internet and buy a quality plug to replace the one you have. Personally I like Platinum plugs as they last pretty much forever. I just pulled some from my 11 year old F-150 with 190,000 miles on it and except for a very wide gap they were fine. Something like $4.59 each, not $11.00. If you go to the plug manufacturer's web site most of them have a section that explains their part numbering system. Better auto parts stores will be able to get you what you need, the one's with the 20 year old kids behind the counter won't have a clue what you're talking about.

Thank you everyone. Following RickNC's response, then investigating, the Onan # 167-1652 is the correct spark plug. $27 from Cummins on Amazon, $19 from a second vendor on Amazon. Apparently both Champion and NGK R offer the Onan spark plug.

I tried a couple of websites to cross reference other plugs, but 167-1652 is not listed. Even the Cumminsonanstore does not offer it. I eventually found one for $11 when I googled outside of Amazon.

I had the cross reference info last year when I bought my new 2800 but since have misplaced it. I'm 95% certain the NGK 3922 is the correct aftermarket plug for the Subaru/Robin engine. Regardless I bought an Onan spare ($4 more) since it is under warranty.
