What the heck am I looking for?
I want to buy a motorhome. I'm not a camper and I'm not going to sit in a campground for any length of time...here's my deal...
I live in Tennessee and I have business in Albuquerque, NM that I need to see 4-5 times a year. I fly out now but it's expensive and no fun at all...so I'd really like to take a motorhome and take my time coming and going. I'll probably sleep in the coach 5-7 nights total on one of these trips.
I also have a place in Florida I like to go to a lot....probably 5-6 times a year...but I have a house there so I don't need to sleep in the coach but I want it for the trips to and from Florida.
So...basically I'm looking for roadrunner that I can sleep in once in a while.....room for two people....little or no cooking....and I usually drive pretty close to the speed limit.
Help me out here guys! What the heck do you pros think I need to get?
Thanks!

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
I think if I were in your situation I would probably get a Class C. First you need to decide how much you want to spend. I would go to RVTrader.com and search based on price and type to see what's available out there.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Yes without a doubt a Class C. You will not like how long it might take you with a Class A and especially if you need to tow a car. If you want to travel the speed limit then it MAY be more possible in the Class C too as long as it's safe to do so.

???????? Travel times would be the same whether it is a TT, 5'r, class C or a Class A me thinks all else being equal.. Set up and breaking down camp would be faster in a Class C or A tho.
If it is a small class C or a Class B would not have to tow a commuter vehicle.

You don't want a C unless you have to haul stuff. You will be better off with a B van conversion type vehicle. It will handle the trip better while letting you do the occasional overnight as you describe. Drive both and you will see what I mean.

I'd think the Dynamax Isata 3 Series would fit your bill.

Sounds like you need a van conversion or smaller class B for your FIRST rig!! Probably won't be your last.

I should probably add....I own a trucking company....so I'm very familiar with diesels and big units....and I don't drive slow.....so when I travel it's usually with my son (two big fellers in a small space) so I probably need some space....
thanks for the replies!! very much appreciated!!

Go to PPL Motorhomes and look at floor plans. See if you find something with two couches and a bed that might work for you and the sons. They have Diesels and Class A gassers.
It's a consignment place but their website is great for checking out the beds and stuff.
Some tow vehicles state they should not be towed above 60 mph so make sure to check that out. A diesel will probably work with the speed limit you want to achieve. Doesn't need to be 40 ft to give you what you want.
Good luck

Great, check out used Newell rigs. You'll love them. The factory often has used ones for sale. Lots of entertainers use them and they go like heck between gigs.
Happy Glamping.

I was going to initially tell you to look for a class B, but then you threw in the Trucking Company thing. Do you really think you will be happy in something that is not a Diesel? I would go with a Diesel pusher with two good sleeping spaces, or more. Big Fellows usually like Big Beds!

Trucking Co....In that case....Take it from a 5m miler....Buy a coach that has some "Giddy Up! & comfort & "Stay where You Put It" when driving down the road. (without having to add/alter the suspension/steering etc)
Take a look at the older (Pre emissions, no slide to 2 slide 34' to 40' ish coaches) Foretravel, Country Coach,Beaver or Newell's.
Yes they are more expensive than other brands.(new & used).but there "May" be a reason for that higher cost..

Since you don't really know what you want, why not try renting different types of RV's to see what fits you best? Then you won't have buyer's remorse if/when you sink 10's of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of dollars into an RV then discover it isn't what you need.
