What to bring when renting a motorhome?

Friends of ours are flying to Vegas, renting a 28 foot class C, and then meeting us in Zion after hitting the Grand Canyon and Bryce.

Since they are flying, they can't bring all the stuff you would normally load from home like chairs, BBQ grill, and even sheets & pillows. Rentals fees are a little stiff with $100 for the kitchen set and $250 for the pillows and sheets (family of 5).

Has anyone rented an RV at a place away from home? Should they ship stuff out or just buy stuff at WalMart and give it away after their 10 day trip?

Any suggestions?

We never did that, but an idea would be pick up some cheap pots and pans, knives and such and when they are done with them they can donate them to a veterans organization, big brothers or one of those. They can also get paper plates and plastic ware to save money too.

We rented the kitchen stuff & packed sheets, towels in suitcase. Pillows were carried on the plane.

With todays $$$ for checked bags it might be worth exploring the shipping of limited kitchen items along with bedding, etc. Send it to the rental place & print out a return shipping label so you can ship it back at the end of the trip. We've done this with our Segways when we flew cross country....worked great.

Another option is to carry your pillows and find a local thrift store to be your first stop. Your first night stop should have a laundry so you can have fresh bedding. Donate to a shelter as your last stop.

You'll have a great time!
