what would you do?

Hello, when we bought our "second mortgage" last fall, I was going through the manuals and found a weight report, listing all the weight totals for each corner of the unit, and at the top of the report it shows the previous owners name and complete address. I was just wondering if it would be right for a person to try and and contact the previous owner to find out the history of the unit, or would that be going too far and intruding on someones privacy? I know the dealer would not have gave me this info if they knew it was in the manuals. Just wondering what you all would do if it were your decision?

I see no reason that a polite letter asking the PO's if they would be willing to share information and experience would be out of line.

I suspect that if you were to word your contact the way you worded this post, most folks aren't going to mind. If they don't want to talk to you, they could just ignore it. Obviously, you are attracted to the rig, and they must have been too.

I've been on the receiving end of that. The guy I sold my '85 Barth was selling it to another who gleaned enough information from talking to the first guy to figure out where I worked, called and left a message. I called him back. We talked for about five minutes. I answered all his questions and didn't mind doing it a bit. So I can say from experience, it wouldn't bother me and I'd be glad to do it.

I did it with a previous coach I purchased. I wrote a short letter with my name, address, email and phone number. I received a phone call from the PO, and we probably talked for about an hour.

Well from what I have read so far, I guess I have nothing to lose, and all the PO has to do if offended is not respond. I will even send a stamped, pre-addressed envelope to sweeten the deal! Sure would be nice to know if I bought a money pit or if they just up graded to a larger unit. thanks all, and happy Memorial day!
