What would you do? Drawers Slide open.
I have a small cabinet that I built with the drawer slides made of wood with no rollers.
When I first made it it I thought just the wood would work, but as time went on the wood became polished and the drawers will now work themselves out.
I am looking for some ideas what I could put on the slides to add some friction. Clasps of any kind are not an option.
Your Ideas please.

You could attach Velcro to the back of the drawer and the other side to the rear where the drawer closes. Build out to it if necessary

You could cut a small notch in the drawer slide for the wood to catch on and add the corresponding piece for the notch close to the face side of the drawer

Our new Winnebago has the latches that the second poster highlighted. They are ineffective if the drawer has any weight added to them. Ours has a drawer below the oven that we put our pans in and it opens around corners. One or two of the smaller drawers open as well. I saw a weight rating on the latches somewhere, but my guess is that they will be hard to open during use if a stronger latch is installed.
I installed child latches last week as someone else noted. A little inconvenient because you have to push them every time you open a drawer, but the drawers did not open on my drive home. I installed them vertically so they are caught by the stile and do not interfere with the bigger pans.

Thanks for the replies however latches of any type are not an option.
I have thought of Velcro and it is a possibility.
But I still would like to add something to the track to increase the friction.

Cut a strip of 220 grit sand paper and glue it to the rail on the drawer. The longer the strip, the more friction. Do it on both sides of the drawer so you have equal friction. This will sand down your styles some so if you use the drawer all the time, this will be a consideration.

A couple of small finish nails, not quite all the way seated, at the front of the slides (on the drawer side). Remember to give a bit of "lift" when starting to open the drawer, so that they don't gouge into and damage the wood portion that they are sliding on; once past the starting point, the gouging is no longer an issue.
