Isn't it much better for the manuf. to lay off and ride out the slow times rather than keep everyone on and go down like National has done? Seem like good management to me. I know, I'm cold hearted but am trying to survive.

Next step should be for the Japanese to start making RV's then the quality would go up and the prices would go down .. forcing the US makers to do the same .. then maybe we could get better Rv's

Can't see the Japanese getting into this market -- not enough world wide demand for the MHs. Also, they are good at copying production but, would still have to build in the US to start with and the start up costs vs the return on investment would not warrant. They could not build outside of the US as the freight to get the product here would make the cost too prohibitive to buy. Also, if you note, the key parts in the MH (drive train, etc) are not foreign made so they would have to purchase from American manufacturers for the key parts).

Just my thoughts on the "foreign invasion" for MHs.

The high price of diesel fuel maybe taking it's toll now. At $3.60 a galon at say 10 MPG it's hard to swallow any more. Couple that with higher prices for a decent rig.
