What's the price of propane in your area

I've been watching the price of Natural Gas sky rocket over the last month, spot price went to +$6 today.

Propane seems to follow the natural price so I'm wondering what it's doing around the country.

Last September I had my home propane tank filled for $1.77 a gallon, haven't had it done yet but should be any day. Am I in for a rude awakening?

Jim-

I own my home's 500-gallon underground tank. The current price is $2.47 a gallon. Based on past experience, the undiscounted retail price is around 50 cents more. Last year I paid a price similar to yours.

I have the propane company fill the motorhome tank at the same time and price. RV park, deliver-to-you pricing recently varied from $5.20 to $5.76/gallon. That was about twice what it cost to fill a cylinder, per-gallon.

Yup. Natural gas is going through the roof, and propane and electricity are going with it. I think we'll even see some old coal plants being restarted.

Last time my home tank was filled I happen to be in the garage working. I asked the driver if he could fill the propane tank in my motorhome. He said yes but I would have to be ready as there is a timer on the pump and once he stopped filling one he had a short time to continue pumping but if the pump shut off he couldn't restart.

I expect them to deliver in the next couple days so it will be hit or miss.

Fortunately there is a Coop near me that still fills propane tanks, but it's a ~20 mile round trip to get it done.

I live in Michigan and have a 500 gallon leased tank which I use for heating my home. In 2020 my annual "pre-buy" for the winter months was $1.46/gallon. This year it is $1.59/ gallon. In 2019 it was $1.39/gallon. In 2018 it was $1.69/gallon. In 2014 it was $1.99/gallon(the highest pre-buy price I have recorded)
This year doesn't seem particularly high historically. Filling a portable propane tank always costs more per gallon that a fixed residential tank, at sometimes and in some places a LOT more.
We winter in south Texas. Last year was unusually cold down there and I had to fill my 30 gallon motorhome tank twice while we were there. A local company brings their truck into the park and fills the tank in place. I paid $2.58/gallon but would have paid more if I had to. There were also local power outages during that time and the propane company could not refill their trucks without electricity. Some folks could not get deliveries and actually ran out of propane during that time.

Filled our RV tanks at a gas station in Maine a couple of weeks ago for $3.75/gal.
Upon returning home in NC filled our home tanks for $2.79/gal.
Big swing.

$1.60 last time I checked. Costco selling keeps the price down.

Wow! Cali sure does have a premium on just about everything. I don't understand how anyone can afford to live there. I came from the North East down to Florida almost 40 years ago and I can't imagine going back there. And that seems cheap compared to the the West Coast.
