Whats wrong with my propane covers?

Okay. Hi everyone. Here we go. Have a 2yr old travel trailer. New as far as I'm concerned. My 'black' dual propane tank cover which looked fantastic 2yrs ago looks like crap now. You guys know what I mean...faded. Looks terrible! probably no uv protection in the paint when they were made?! I'm not about to start massaging it with back to black or whatever its called lol. Kinda miss my 'hard to keep clean' white covers now! Anybody ever try and paint their black covers? Or any advice? Thx for listening.

Paint it tell us how it turned out. Or how about just replacing it with a white one?

I paint all my roof covers, air conditioner cover, etc with paint made for plastic. Works pretty good but have to redo them every two years or so.

I matched the color of my RV on the covers.

Did they fade on you Arch Hoagland? Is that why you paint them so often? Can't a uv protected clearcoat work or better paint?

Maybe wax them a couple of times a year instead of just letting them fade...

Didn't fade, just started to peel a tiny bit. I didn't sand before I painted originally and that was a mistake.

So sand first. Clearcoat would probably be a good idea and better paint would help too.

Washed our TT yesterday. Tried scrubbing my white propane covers to remove the spots, streaks and overall grime that made them look like c*ap.
Didn't do any good. Went and got the spray kitchen cleaner (the one with bleach in it) and carefully coated the covers with it and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinsed it off with a hose and they look like new.
I'm sure I'm not the first one to try this, but it may be of some help to others with grimy looking covers.

Armour All helps a little. Less after the fact. It provides UV protection, too.

Too bad there isn't a black bleach.
