Good afternoon: We travel a lot with our grandchildren (ten). This summer we get a break, only eight. Virginia to Florida for about three weeks. With the kids we try to be off the road by 4 or 4:30. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. We try to call ahead starting about 2 - 2:30 to check out what is available. We have never run into a real problem. Yes we have had to settle for less than what we wanted but after 100,000 +/- miles and some 200 nights give or take a few, we have lucked out as the saying goes. The campgrounds have always been most helpful. I know that when we open the doors and the kids fall out we get some looks. three hours in the morning 9-12 and three in the afternoon 1-4 is a good day. Take care be safe and enjoy.

I'm with Hitchhiker, Reservations are to confining, we have always gutts it. Some times we get burned but not very often. You kinda learn that in different areas how to judge when to call it a day and get yer CG spot. I like rest area's and Wal-marts when doing an A to B run. If out on a cross country 500 to 600 mi is a good day. Getting there is half the fun, and believe it or not, Pat and I used to do that and more every day on our motorcycle when going west.
