I just received my new RVND 7715 yesterday and the screen is quite a bit larger than my old Garmin. With my old Garmin I had it mounted on top of the instrument cluster and it did not obscure my vision. The much larger 7" screen will have to be mounted differently. Just wondering where you have yours mounted?

Going to watch this one as I'm just entering the market. Also wondering if most are on a swivel platform. Would like navigator to be in control of it and leave the driving to me if that's possible.

That's the reason I do NOT have a 7" (or larger) GPS on the dash. I can see & reach the 5" quite easily, mounted on the top edge of the dash just right of the instrument panel. A bigger one would be in the way.

I also have a built-in GPS (Garmin GVN53) that uses the in-dash 7" monitor, but it requires that I look away from the road too long and use a remote control (no touch screen).

I played around with a Magellan 7" but returned it after deciding it was too big for the available space (and I didn't like the software all that much either).

Since the DW is the navigator, our Tom Tom is mounted on her side window. We also use MS Streets & Trips running on the dash mounted HP Netbook which also runs our VMSpc.

I have a 5" GPS mounted on the dash above the instrument panel and don't have a problem seeing it or looking over to see the road. Doubt a 7" one would be that much of a problem. Maybe you are accustomed to the smaller one which makes the 7" one seem so large. You could mount it a little to the right so it isn't directly in the line of sight but still accessable.

I bought a weighted portable mount - looks like a donut shaped sandbag. The GPS suction mount holds the unit to the donut and it sits on my dash. It can be turned to face the driver or the navigator, the big screen is easy to see, and the navigator can pick it up, make the necessary inputs, and put it right back down. Easy-peasy.

I have the Rand McNally 7710, (7") and I have it mounted on the drivers side window. I have it close enough to touch, (a little reach) and it seems to work fine. I use use the supplied suction cup mounting.

I most need my GPS in the middle of strange cities when there are lane changes, mergers and turn-offs coming at me quite rapidly and usually in heavier traffic.

Therefore I need a big GPS and I need it as close to my line of sight to traffic as possible. I mounted mine on a vinyl sandbag on top of the dash, where a quick glance down and to the right will show me what I need.

I'm tall enough that I can see over it easily enough and watching traffic isn't a problem

But I really need to have it as close to the reality outside the RV as possible with as little time as possible for switching from the GPS to the road and back.

I had my 7" roadmate 1700 mounted with included suction cup on the dash ,down and to the right. My dash was very basic being old and a gasser though. In my class C it's mounted up next to the rearview watch the kids mirror. I also have the back up camera opiton wired up for it being there. MAKE sure the surface is CLEAN and dry before you stick it. Mine has popped off a couple of times very scary with a screen that big falling off window.

We have the RM7710, and use the glass mount suction cup to attach it to the driver's side window. It is within easy reach of the driver and there is very little glare on it there. Of course, it has to be removed each time the window is opened more than a few inches, which hasn't been an issue so far.

We do the same...RM7710 in the drivers side window w/ suction mount. However, our suction cup mount fits into the lower/forward most corner of the window and clears the sliding window when fully open. I can still reach it pretty easily and it's 7" screen is big enough to see with no problem.

The navigator has a Garmin Nuvi in the opposite corner window corner which is easy to reach and easy to pop out of the mount for scanning and other commands.

We like to have 2 different type GPS running because they see the world differently and having a second opinion is a good thing and has saved us some problems in the past.

We tried the bean bag mounts, but they always seem to migrate around on the curvy parts of the dash and/or get in the way.
