Where do RV's that have been traded in end up?

While shopping for RV's this weekend i asked a couple of salesmen what they do with RV's that have been traded in. I was told they "wholesale them" and that was as much information I could get. Anyone have an the answer?

Thanks

I think that was the general answer. (wholesale)
Small and sometimes larger dealers buy their motorhomes wholesale and then sell to public at much higher prices.
The nicer units are often sold by the dealer that received it as trade.
Same as cars. The bottom line is right now the nicer units are flying off the shelf so to speak. Very difficult to find a well maintainted MH that is bargain priced.

Funny, I have been wondering that too. I havenít seen any used RV dealers like I see used car lots.

There is a huge auto auction company in our area that has a large lot dedicated to repossessed and "wholesale" RVs. Some of the trade ins go there for sale at auction.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect it's pretty much like a car dealership. They keep the nicer ones to sell and wholesale the others to small RV lots.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We live a few miles from a major interstate and there is a used RV dealer at our exit. Always has a large inventory. We looked there when we first started shopping. Everything we saw there was rode hard and put up wet. Same thing at other used dealers. All their inventory comes from New dealers and auctions. New dealers keep the good ones and wholesale the junk to these kind of lots.
There may be execptions, but they're rare.

If they are good use units that a dealer thinks they can make money on they keep it and re-sell it. Just look under the "used" or "pre-owned" section for any RV dealer.

The ones that do no fit their criteria, or is not worth them trying to re-sell go to auction.

I have a sales manager that lives 3 doors down. He works at RCD RV, which is a larg RV dealer in central OH. There are 3 location with the larger location that has maybe 500+ campers/rvs at the peak. They resell most of what they take in.

From what I hear and see it looks like they have a crew that details them, a service department and a body shop. They clean and fix them up. If its garbage they have a fire sale or wholesale, or scrap it. They seem to be very open with telling you the issues they know about. I have seen used Class A motor homes from around $10k to 200K

In the campground right next to my site. If people buy used cars, used washing machines, etc. they buy used RVs. A salesman will sell you a used pair of shoe laces if you need some.

Many "new" dealers only resell units under 5 years old because older units are harder to finance. There are a few larger dealers (like Lazy Days) that have crews on site to reupholster, service all the appliances etc. They usually turn over used models very quickly.
We looked at quite a few coaches at used dealerships and they were mostly overpriced junk.
