Where is the Trash Can ?
Pulled into a really nice Arkansas State Park and after setting up I noticed the fire ring had trash in it. Apparently one of the previous occupants discarded 2 sets of blue latex disposable gloves, and 2 sets of disposable booties in the ring for someone else to throw away. I looked around, and there was a trash can right at the end of the campsite!
Now can someone tell me why someone would use the fire ring as a disposal station instead of the trashcan? Disgusting!

This is one of my pet peeves. If you don't have a fire, you look at the trash during your stay. If you do have a fire, you typically have to deal with the trash before you can start a fire, especially if it has old food stuff in it.

Some people just are not taught right and wrong when they are young.
I have spent many a time cleaning up other people's messes. They just don't get it.
Happy Glamping.

I still remember the lessons I learned from my father camping at Watauga Lake when I was young.
Last year, we went to Pa. to visit with SWMBO family, and somebody had the rectal cranial inversion and took the upgrade to a black Navigator with cloth interior to carry around a solid white doggie . Sunday night when vacuuming the rental, I added the extensions and used the shop vac to pick up all of the butts on the ground where somebody had used the end of the drive for a smoking area. The neighbors were amused.

It's one of the biggest complaints from campers. Attribute it to laziness and the attitude that, "it's not my place, and someone else will pick it up."

As volunteers in parks we cleaned out those fire pits... an ugly job. You would not believe what folks toss in it when they leave the site. Nothing but wood should be in the fire pit. No egg shells, food scraps, bones, fish guts, papers, foil, aluminum cans, glass, cigarette butts, dog poop, cat litter or diapers. Please think about the next camper coming in. How would you like to arrive at a site and find these things?

Lazy. Did not care. It happens. Thing is did you clean it out or was it not your mess?
I did a post on this by seeing my neighbor upon pulling out throw the last of her trash into the fire pit. I walked over after they left and threw it into the garbage for them. Best one can do, put in some effort and do a little clean up when needed.

I guess we are old school. We always try to leave a place cleaner than when we got there. Monkey

I cleaned it up and properly disposed of the litter. As we were leaving, another RVer just leaving hung their trash bag on the varmint pole (pole where tenters can hang food stuffs so varmints don't get into it). The trash can was probably 3 feet away!!!
For those of you calling Arkansas home, I'm very impressed with your state parks! You should be proud.
