It was not my intention to make anyone mad or pass any judgment on anyone's behavior. I simply was interested in why I seldom see anyone outside at most of the places we stay. I fully understand leaving the MH and seeing the sight in the area, we also do the same thing. I also understand that to many full timers the RV is your home. I do not spend all my time observing my fellow campers. I spent 20 years in law enforcement and even thou I have been retired for many years, staying aware of my surroundings and observing peoples behavior is second nature. It just seemed odd to me that back in the 1980s and 90s when we tent camped, the parks might not have been as full as now, but you certainly saw more people out and about enjoying themselves than you do now.

Times have changed a bit. Kids don't grow up playing stickball and tag anymore. Now they play Candy Crush and Flappy Bird (or whatever). Parents are paranoid and don't want kids playing outside with strangers around. When kids are raised to enjoy electronics and be afraid of strangers, you end up with everyone inside playing video games and not outside meeting new people.

We are hikers and use our RV as a base station to get to the various trail heads near that area. You will never see us during the day - we leave around sunrise and typically won't be back until late in the day. When we're back we're hungry and sweaty - so shower and a meal is next. We love our life style but you might mistake us as glampers because we're not sitting under our awning all day long:-)

We take the bus out just to get a different view out of the window and while driving to work every day. It breaks up the daily grind. I live 40 miles from where we usually camp and alternate a couple of weeks in the bus and a couple of weeks at the house. We do sit by the fire or just hangout under the awning when the weather is nice just like we would do at the house not everyone is on vacation. There is no steadfast rules on how to love the RV life just do what makes you happy.

We don't camp in our coach, we live in our coach. How much time do you stay outside when you are home? I reckon it is probably about the same.

As varied as the responses, so are the 'ways' of rv'ing...
Way back when, we never reserved spots, just winged it and had a ball meeting all the fellow 'campers' - full timing was not a thing, so most were in vacation mode.
Now, reservations are almost a must if you have a tight schedule and trying to see all of the west in 30 days
But, you'll still find us sitting outside with the pup and recharging almost daily after sightseeing if the weather allows - How we met the wonderful Dutch family across the way in Grand Canyon Trailer Village!

Like many others we are full time in our RV when we are in the US (3-4 months at a time twice a year), so we are not always in the sight seeing or vacation mode. There are days we stay in to take care of "living stuff" like bill paying, blog writing, phone calls, cleaning, wash, and just down days.
Usually we are out part of every day and in good weather outside for dinner and a campfire at night.
Basically we are not on "vacation" mode but rather "living" mode.

Regardless of us living out of the RV or the S&B, I'm outside if the temperature is greater than 50 and less than 105 (assuming there is shade). My DW's comfort outside temperature range is 80-85. We all have our own comfort range.

Pain has a huge factor in this, some older people have a lot.

I’m usually up and about before sun up. Hiking, kayaking and exploring. When I return, a shower, a nap and a cocktail keep me in until it’s time to fire up the grill for dinner.

Also, I'm full time, so I might just be living my life and not camping like you are. I don't spend all my time in vacation mode. Just because I'm at a campground doesn't mean I'm making s'mores and hot dogs over an open fire.

This, though my "base camp" is a class B Roadtrek and I'm part time on the road. The wifey likes the S&B and does not go on the 3-4 month trips except to maybe fly out for a 2-4 week stint toward the end of my trip sometimes. Fixing to do a MN to WA to Cal trip this year, with the emphasis on Cal, though the Cal could be replaced by BC.

That's right,....YOU are camping,....whereas I simply moved my little house to a location where I wish I had a stick/brick house.
