Convenience.

It's one of the most expensive things in modern society.

Beef is NOT the same price per pound on a plate in a restaurant as it is in a grocery store, gas is not the same price at Costco as it is on the side of the highway.

A small'ish order of French fries, $2. A 50 pound bag of potatoes, $8.

The stuff should be cheaper at walmart, they don't pay the help that great, so they can sell stuff cheaper.

Not necessarily so---gallons purchased x cents saved can often equal in excess of $24 for me.
If you don't have an extra tank, or burn gasoline, then, yes, it can cost more to go out of the way.
I enjoy looking for lowest diesel prices ON THE ROAD ahead of me, and can usually find a 15-45cent saving over FJ/Pilot with minimum effort.
It certainly is not for everyone, so buy where you like.

Costco pays their workers a living wage with medical and retirement as opposed to Walmart and SAMs Club who do not. That alone is enough reason to buy there.......

We have used the gas stations at Walmarts a few times, we get a Walmart gift card for a few hundred dollar then used at the pumps get a discount but we do try to do it unhooked from the 5th wheel plus with 2- 120 gallon tanks it does add up for us maybe not for everyone.
