Wife gets up late !!
We have been RV'ing for over 35 years and always had large motorhomes with a separate bedroom.
We are now in our late 70's and want to travel in a much more manageable size coach and boondock in tighter forest campgrounds.
So we bought a 26' Thor Axis. Trouble is I am a disabled veteran and wake up around 4:00 am in pain and have to get up. My wife sleeps to 7:00.
In those three hours there is nothing to do. Cant make noise, no TV satellite under the trees. Get sick of reading that many hours
Anyone else worked out this problem - we may have to give up the RV
Thanks

Does your satellite provider give you free streaming on an app? That would at least give you an option to watch tv. Might need unlimited data on your phone to do this. That’s all I can think of. I’m in a similar position myself.

Crawl back in bed - that might get her up? I feel your pain.
Thanks for your service.

I put coffee, grinder, jet-boil, press, and cup together just inside the door. As soon as I'm up, I go outside, make a cup, and watch the world turn from black to green. Often I light the paper sack of kindling that I stored in a compartment, add it to the campfire I laid last night. If I don't have a campfire, daylight often catches me and dog walking the streets of CG. Clean the windows of TV.
Wake her up when breakfast is ready, not a min before...

Excellent idea!!! Also earphones for the t.v. or radio along with going to sleep later. What alleviates your pain? Would a quiet walk help? Hope something works for you! Don't give up RVing.

Holy cats Batman! 7:00 am is getting up late?! As someone with a non-24 hour circadian rhythm, I can't imagine being able to get up at 4am every morning. I often don't go to bed until 4am.
If you're a TV guy, just get some headphones and watch the tube. I have no idea what you'd watch at that hour, but it's something to do. You could start a new hobby. Maybe wood carving. It would be quiet and you can do it outside while watching the sun rise. Carve a small trinket for your wife in the morning. See how many you can make before she complains about not having a place to put them. You could also start building models. Cars? Planes? Ships? Spaceships?
If you were in a sticks and bricks, what would you be doing?

I would go back to the style of RV that makes you happy and move on from the one that isn't working for you. RV living is all about compromise. I have often thought I wanted to do something only to find it didn't really work out the way I wanted it to. The trick us to know when to write it off and move on.

If you have any interest in radios, you can get an amateur radio license.
I always get up 2 to 3 hours before DW, so I turn on the radio (with headphones) and listen to the world. Sometimes, I even get brave, and talk to folks on there, risking waking her. Or I use morse code that is silent in the camper when using headphones.
Just a thought ......

My wife goes to bed early and I stay up so that we both get up around 7 AM. One solution is a wireless headset for watching TV. This is the headset we have and it works good for us.

Give up the RV? If you moved into a sticks and bricks what would be any different? I don't think your wife sleeping to 7 AM is unreasonable.
Sorry to hear about your disability. Thank you for your service though.
