It already has us changing plans. We were taking a vacation up the east coast in early summer. That has now turned into a much closer to home vacation in order to save fuel $$$.

Bob, Linda, Missy:

Yup,...this fuel issue has alot of us modifying travel plans, BUT.....having been to Alaska, (the last trip was in 07), it's such an exceptionally GREAT place, I think we'd "bite the bullet" and go again. In fact we're tentatively planning for next summer (2012). It's a tough call. ......although......if we went, and found we could only afford fuel for a one way trip, .......that wouldn't be a bad thing!!

We are planning about a 6K+ mile trip this summer and we are presently budgeting for a $5.00 per gallon price (gasoline). It it goes to $6.00 we will still go but do without some of the side trips along the way and some of the restaurant stops. So in the end we will still get to go where we want, but the businesses along the way are the ones that will loose revenue.

During the winter holidays, we did a 5k round trip to Florida. Starting point Montreal. Gas here was about 5$ per gallon and between 2.75$ and 3.30$ in the states. We were planning a trip to SC (Myrtle Beach) but now that gas prices are getting close to Quebec prices, we are staying here in Quebec and going to visit Tadoussac and Natasquan. So yes, gas prices do influence are plans for traveling this summer :(

We had hoped to go back to Maine in Sept.,planning our trip to stop by the National rally in Va.on our way back. But right now not comitting to even the National with the predicted continue rise in fuel prices. We are so glad we did our cross country trip last year and we spent the first two months of this year out. There is a campground on the water near us where we may take our granddaughter camping this summer.

We're leaving for Disneys Fort Wilderness on wed. and figure it's going to cost us $1700 in gas as it's just short of 3000 miles round trip. The rest of the season will be campgrounds closer than 50 miles.

We normaly do one campout per month with our GS group. This month the campout is 160 miles away. We originaly intended to spend 6 nights. Now, because of fuel prices we are not able to go. We are on fixed income, so there are priorities like food and meds that must come frst. Our next campout is 60 miles. Hope by then we can afford the trip.

I just drove from St Louis Mo to Tunica Mississippi and then down 61 to Baton Rouge over to Kinder and back up through Arkansas and there wasn't hardly any traffic. $3.85 in St Louis and $3.90 in Kinder. $4.09 all along route.

If your income is x number of dollars; when the prices go up on anything, somethine else will give. goes for fuel or food.

What I don't do is eat out all the time and spend money where I shouldn't.

this coming trip, second week of may, was figured at $4.00 per gallon and 6 miles per gallon fuel mileage. well we're looking at the price so lets hope we'll get better fuel mileage.
it's the first long trip since i drove it home from Tucson, have done a lot work to it mechanically and cosmetically the first shake down trip found needed a thermostat , was very cold and windy that day and still got 6.5 on hilly back roads should do better on the flatter route we will use this trip.
so we should be right on budget this year only putting 1200 miles on the mh and the vast majority of running will be in the hhr thank goodness it averages 29 mpg.
next year though we were looking at about 3300 mile trip on the mh but will have another couple with us so it should still be more economical then plane tickets.rooms rental car etc but will have to factor in fuel,
most trips this year will be very short wife going to lake which will give me time work on the new house with minumum supervision so it's money well spent.
will have to set down and find the point where we will have to change our plans figure it is after 5 dollars a gallon but how far past i can't say a this moment.

best wishes frank,cricket and harley
