Well finally one of the locals here in mid Kansas told me why there's so much wind in Kansas. He said it was because Oklahoma blows and Nebraska sucks. We have noticed a large windmill farm not far from here.

Just drove 1200 miles from MN to Maryland and encountered some strong winds. If it had not been for the tree tops and grass bending over we would not have known it was windy. Our 33’ fiver is 12’6”. Our old Jayco 33’ pull behind always let us know it was windy. I’m actually very surprised we don’t feel the wind or semis passing us at high speeds.
