Window shattered

Had a window shatter blow out and completely fall out while minding my own business driving north on I-75. Evidently, this isnít that unusual of an occurrence from reading other posts about this. How hard is it going to be to get a replacement and have it installed?

Just take it to an auto glass place and they'll fix it. We had the same happen to the driver side window on our old burb. But I saw what happened it was a rock flying off a rock truck. The driver denied it of course. So we paid for it, about $100 in Kalispel had to drive over via GTS road from St Mary.

You probably have a glass place that comes to your place look in google 'auto glass Winter Haven'

I assume you are in FL. as your home is Winter Garden. There are a number of places in FL. that specialize in MH replacement windows. One is in Hudson FL and there were a number of others at the Tampa show. Should not be a big deal. Maybe someone else will chime in here with names and locations. Good luck.

We parked one night at home, and the next morning we found one shattered. Indeed take it to a reputable glass company -- we used Binswanger Glass who has shops all over the country. Ours was an odd shaped window, but they were able to trace one on the other side and have a tempered replacement in and installed in less than a week.

Tempered glass can spontaneously break for no apparent reason. The most common cause is edge defects but other causes are thermal stress and internal defects such as nickel sulfide inclusions.

That looks like a frameless awning window so the glass will probably need to be obtained from the manufacturer, most likely Lippert. The original glass had a screen printed border known as 'frit' around the perimeter. This is to prevent UV light from reaching the urethane adhesive that bonds the hardware to the glass. No glass shop will be able to produce that. It's screen printed and fired into the glass during the tempering process.

Update: I was able to connect order a replacement glass. REV Group Parts overnighted the window to me. Had it installed today and I should be good to go. Paint damage still has to be repaired, but the window Gould be good - until this happens again. Thanks for the replies.

It's 3-4 weeks to get the window.

All the local glass places don't do anything on RV"s. Window needs to be ordered and long wait.

I experienced that at home, a storm door window suddenly exploded. When I tried to pick up the larger pieces they were so hot they burned my fingers. The door was in direct sunlight at the time. I wonder it sunlight was involved with the OP's window?
