Windshield Woes Washed away.

Our brand new windshield was horribly installed a few weeks ago, I posted earlier about it.
We took it to All State Auto Glass in Pilesgrove NJ for a second try. They assured me they do most of the glass replacements for all the RV dealers within our 50 mile radius. It was rather far, one hour drive from home.
Well, now it looks as good as new......except for a few little spots where the first installer got glue on the dash from installing it a bit too low. Only visible from outside, not a big deal. They successfully took out the badly installed but brand new windshield without damage and reinstalled with all new gaskets.

Someone mentioned it is not necessary to go to a "RV windshield installer".

I would now disagree. The first place (Conshohocken Auto Glass) got good reviews and was whom Duncan (glass supplier) suggested. I suggest you never go there. Their install looked terrible and leaked. They cut the "T" portion off of the finishing gasket because it would not fit in the channel in the first windshield gasket that goes around the glass. So the finishing gasket was wrinkled in the corners and coming off in many spots when I picked it up.
If you need RV glass work and are near Pilesgrove (we live just outside Philadelphia) Bobby at All State Glass will make it look new again.

Sometimes its the luck of the draw. I had a poor windshield experience once and it turned out the guy at the big Safelite shop that actually had RV experience wasn't there that day. The young fellow that worked on mine had never done one before (and it showed). It started out with him trying to guide me into a bay that had a door too low for the RV roof (good thing I insisted on driving!) and only got a little better. After a bit a second tech joined the job and he was somewhat more knoweldegable, or at least more cautious.

Hey there Derek, if you don’t mind sharing, how much did the job cost? I have to get my wind shield reseated (top corners popped out) and I’m pretty sure the entire gasket needs replacing on mine.

Sorry that you had trouble with a installer recommended by Duncan. I have had 4 windshields replaced by Duncan with zero problems. But the installations were either at their main facility in Elkhart or by Duncan service teams at a FMCA convention.

beilber, I sent an email to the installer. I did not pay anything, it was all covered by insurance. If he tells me I'll let you know.

Beilber,
Just heard from the installer. He said the job cost $1000 with all materials and labor.
