I do both. Blow the water out and follow up with the pink stuff. Great insurance for the few buck's spent IMHO.

I drain, air purge, back fill with af and fill traps. Takes less than 30 min and uses less than 1.5 gal usually( unless the city water inlet spring is broke and all the pink af is blowing out the cw inlet, ha)

Done properly, either method is equally effective. The key phrase her is "done properly."

I opt for the antifreeze method because there is a positive indication. When the pink stuff comes through the faucet, that line is done. With the blow out method, I am never absolutely sure.

Blowing out the lines before adding the antifreeze might save half a gallon or so, but hardly seems worth the bother.
