Question Wireless Thermometers

Read several threads about monitoring temps in water bay and problems with cargo heaters where wireless thermometers were mentioned but couldn't find any mention of names or sources. I'm looking for a two or three station wireless set. Would appreciate a point in the right direction. Thanks.

La Crosse has multi sensor units that run on batteries.

Walmart carries a pretty good selection. You can buy extra remote units for some of them. The one I have is made by Acurite and will handle three remotes.

I have the La Crosse SW-9116U with two remotes. Unfortunately I would NOT recommend this unit. I have found it difficult to keep the the main unit synced with the remotes, and it has yielded undependable readings. I'm looking for something better.

After buying several types and brands, I have had the best luck with this Acu-rite from Wal*Mart.

It still loses the remote reading from time to time. I believe it's because of the steel and electronics of the RV.

I also used the Acu-rite from walmart.
My kit came with a base station and one wireless transmitter. There was a note on the back that told me what part number to order two more sensors.
So, including the base station, I was able to read 4 temps from one location. Also, the remote sensors have a digital readout locally. I also had the option of using a wired probe to extend the reach of each sensor.

It was very easy to set up and worked all winter with NO issues.

Some more advanced setups are available that will plug into a USB dongle that goes in your computer. It can email you or even call your cell phone (for some systems) if a temperature drops below a preset temperature. I searched for these through google and ebay.

Good luck, and I hope that helped!

wa8yxm,
OK, I give up. What does that mean? Only thing I can think of is trash in the city. Am I thinking too hard?
