Won't use this again

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Used it two seasons. Third season end came off and went into water heater! Took two days to get wand end out. A real piece of garbage. Hint to get out. After trying unsuccessfully to fish it out we tried a different way. Pulled the over pressure release valve and filled the tank with water from drain plug hole. The wand floats. When water was coming out the pres. release hole we put a wet/dry vacuum over the pres. release hole and the wand was sucked out. Thank goodness I didn't want to pull water heater.

Atwood WH drain hole is only 1/2"...stick that wand in the hole and half of drain hole is blocked.

Works ok with Suburban which has a 3/4" drain hole

I prefer the Power Flush Method

Turn water supply off.....open faucet to relieve pressure...close faucet
Remove nylon drain plug....stand back
Turn water supply on and let it BLAST out the drain hole
Flushes WH Tank quickly.....stirs it up due to the constant in rush of cold water and blows it out

Better then the wand...

I had one of those Camco Fillers...Yellow shutoff with 1/2" tubing
Stick it into the gravity fill port and turn hose on
2nd time I used it the tubing section blew off the valve section
Tubing has been in freshwater tank ever since (2007)

Still have the purdy yellow shutoff valve......LOL

Your not the first to have this happen, someone reported the same problem on another forum last year. When I went to check mine it had stress cracks around where the tube connects to the base. Looks like they used the wrong type of plastic, or uses a tube that was too small to fit on the base nub.

I built one from 1/4 inch copper tubing. I bent the end to form a 90 degree ell and smashed the end nearly shut to create nozzle effect. I used plumbing fitting from hardware store to adapt to hose fitting. The 1/4 inch allows plenty of room for debris to pass by.

I have that same wand and read all the comments about people having the nozzle fall off, but I'll just keep an eye on it and look for cracks. I flushed mine when I had the TP valve out through it's larger hole, so it would all drain out through the bottom drain. Also, quite by accident, I did the power flush method first. I hadn't fully relieved pressure before I removed the drain valve, and it was quite a comical situation...
