I had a great time changing out the hardware pulls and the bathroom doorknob in the 5er, today! I like the Arts and Crafts style, so I wanted dark metal ones instead of the bright gold it came with. What a shock when I went to buy them...they were all so expensive! (needed 25 of them!) Almost decided to try refinishing what I had, but finally found some simple "C" shaped ones at Lowe's for .99 ea. They look great! Next I'll be looking for an inexpensive black towel ring, bar and TP holder. One question, tho....am I going nuts, or do you have to purchase a special screwdriver to get the window treatments off of the walls? All of the "screw heads" in the 5er look like a Phillips head, only bigger...what's up with THAT?

You may be looking at screws that can use EITHER phillips or standard. Your normal phillips should work just fine.

Both our Newmar motor homes have used square headed screws in this (and other) area. We bought 2 screwdrivers that fit them at our RV dealer's store area. One stays in the basement tool bin and one stays inside the coach area as we have to use them for several things.

Thanks, DonnaB and Rick ...the screws WERE different...they did need a #2 square head screwdriver...only bought one (found it at Sutherland's Lumber). I was able to remove the valances and curtains ...now I have the scary job of recovering them. It is scary...yet exciting to be jumping in there and finding out how it all works. I probably should look at the manual they gave us, next time....never thought about that! Happy trails! amp
