Sorry but whether we think it is stupid or not...see page 2 for the following...
The use of an exhaust extension kit may void the Cummins Onan warranty.
(My emphasis added)

So...no...an exhaust stack doesn't guarantee the warranty is void but it might. I would imagine that if the failure symptoms are recognizable as being associated with those associated with improper exhaust venting, then they would deny warranty coverage. They do raise some other conditions where safety could be affected by the use of an exhaust stack.

I never thought of a Genturi as an exhaust extension. Maybe just semantics?

I think it is an extension...but...I don't handle warranty issues.
To be honest, I would assume that there are some specific failures that MIGHT be backtracked to an exhaust stack that isn't working as intended. Perhaps anything related to back pressure would be the primary issues. I'm not a mechanic so that is a SWAG.

We wanted to attend the GS Rally in Phoenix two years ago.
We looked at "ALL" the rules regarding parking, etc.
They stated that generator exhaust stacks were required,
so we bought one. We used it at Quartzsite with our group
and found I liked having it.
When we went to the Rally, the guy pulled in beside me and
immediately said "I will probably smoke you out and deafen
you with the noise of my genny." I mentioned the exhaust stack
and he said "To h--- with them, I am not spending more money
to attend this thing."
We saw the patrol people later and asked them about the stacks.
They said they could not enforce it but hoped people would use
them and respect their neighbor.
Everything about RVing boils down to the same thing.
Treat your neighbor like you want to be treated.

The genturi only directs the exhaust ....the pipes are not sealed together ....so no backpressure at all.

The first part, is an elbow that is clamped on. That's a restriction. Try fitting that elbow with it running. It will push back.
There seems to be a pin, right thru the exhaust flow. That's a restriction. Try placing a screwdriver across the exhaust outlet. It will push back.
Will it amount to a hill of beans and effect your generator, probably not, but there is a restriction.

There is additional stress placed on the stock muffler which increases the chance of leaking exhaust back into the coach. When it comes to safety I prefer things to be stock. So you may keep exhaust away from your neighbors which is commendable but that comes with a slight risk to your own safety. Having said that, most who have the extension s seem to be happy with them and still alive.

I bought my motorhome on November 23 of this year. I had it set up at home the following weekend , with the generator running, and the heat on. About 3 hours later and my CO2 monitor started to go off.
I bought the Genuturi the following week. I haven't tried it yet. I will this spring when we start racing, and I have the generator running.
I have installed a 50 amp outlet at home for now, and will be installing a 100 pound lp-gas tank this week. So I won't need the Genturri until this spring. I know that I will be using it every weekend once we start racing...

I was just going to say that I regularly park a couple of places where the exhaust will set off our CO detector within a half hour. I'm more worried about that than the neighbors. Genturi solves the problem.
At least on a 4000 W Onan the Genturi pipe is significantly larger than the generator exhaust pipe. There is an adapter that expands the pipe size to the one the Genturi pipe fits over. That is where the pin is. Restriction is a minimum if it exists.
