I think the most important is the restroom/shower area, with enough water pressure to comfortably shower, and a flexible hose on the shower head so handicap can wash better.
and at least clean enough so that you don't worry about using it.

I boondock alot as well as camp in campgrounds. My top 5 for a campground are:

1. Good, consistent hookups (power, water, sewer) within reasonable reach.
2. Reasonably level site.
3. Room to spread out and not bump elbows with neighboring sites.
4. Trees, bushes, shade...natural; I don't want to feel like I'm in a mobile home park-I'm CAMPING.
5. Quiet & dark (I guess that's 2 things, huh?).

For boondocking, delete #1; all others still apply.

To me it depends on what kind of site I need. If i'm wanting a one night stand all it needs is easy access in and out. Don't need to be quiet way from traffic.
If it is a destination sight where I will spend a several days then I don't mind traveling 10 miles off the main road. But I still want the trees trimmed back and well laid out sights.

There is a brand new CG with a 100 sites some where East of North Plait Nebraska that made me sick how poorly it was laid out. Electric was so far to the rear of the site I had to use the next site over. Island between the sites was lower than the gravel to the point it will be lake in wet weather. Layout was terrible with narrow streets and sharp turns.
Someone spent a ton of money for a disaster.

good luck

Clean Site, as in the last person cleaned up after themselves

NO low hanging tree limbs
level site
roomy site
interior roads actually wide enough to back into site without running over or into other sites

hard packed gravel or concrete doesn't matter

  1. Space between sites. Hate being so close I could reach through MY window into my neighbors kitchen and ask for the grey poupon.
  2. Good maintained hookups
  3. Reasonably Level
  4. I love dogs, but some sort of enforcement on ones that bark all day and night.
  5. Reliable internet of some kind, either wired or wifi.

1. Location - close to lake to boat/fish, or trails to hike/ORV
2. Privacy - trees or bushes or distance,
3. 30 amp service
4. Price (check my user name)
5. reasonably big enough to accommodate the truck, 5th wheel and boat or ATV trailer

For us we tend to camp in State/National Parks and for the most part do not use the "RV resorts" So we need:

Large sites with trees and privacy between sites. If I can't see my neighbor that is a good thing.

Fire ring...nothing like a campfire at night

Clean restrooms and showers available

Pet friendly

Quiet, considerate and friendly neighbors.:

I like wide sites and roads that are taken care of. I hate it when you have tight turns and low overhanging branches.
Good reliable power and internet
Good water pressure
Management that looks out for their guests, and are willing to help with your needs.
