Amana Colonies RV park

We just spent 8 days at the Amana Colonies RV park with another rally and want to assure you its a great facility. We had 360 families there and had a week of HOT temperatures. We had 50 amp power (for 50% of the sites) otherwise 30 amp and water connections at every site. Many of the sites also had sewer connections, but not enough for all 360 of us.
The town is great so make sure you get out and visit the wollen mill. the brewery, the wineries, the meat shops, the bakeries etc. There are no grocery stores close to the site (15 miles to Iowa City) so keep that in mind. The local corner store does stock some items so you will not be dry. LOL
Good luck in Sept.

That corn pays for the Bella Rigatoni; well, IL corn and soybeans, anyway.

Glad I checked out the topic. I stayed at the Amana park from June to a week before it closed for the winter a couple years ago. Great place, quiet despite having some sort of rally or event almost every other weekend. I didn't usually stay for the weekends though so maybe it got rowdy when I wasn't around.

Plan to come over for a day, am staying a bit closer to work this year. Look forward to meeting you all. Is there a itinerary or schedule of events? I haven't read all 13 pages yet.

They are gravel with some dust.

During my time there on the days of heavy arrivals they would wet down the gravel and tame the dust a bit. During the week I got dusty every trip in and out. I was parked in the far NorthWest corner. That's the location for all the long term folks.

These are very long sites that are oriented straight North and South. Long 5th wheels are a little tough to get into a site if it has rained. There is gravel only on the wheel tracks in the site. Never had standing water, but I was there during a dry season.

See y'all there!
Google or Bing The Canteen Lunch in the Alley, or if you are on FaceBook you can type in Can and it comes right up. Read the history and story and decide if you want to make the trip. Probably a 200 mile round trip and don't take a big group it only seats 20 at a horseshoe counter and you are elbow to elbow.

Has anyone received an updated schedule of events at the rally? I thought one was to be forthcoming.....

Has anyone received instructions on paying the iRV2 fee? I understood it would be due in August, but have not heard anything yet....

Shouldn't the rally be promoted more? It does not seem like very many have RSVP'ed on the event calendar yet?

I received a PM reply. The event is on!

As the old saying goes; Are we there yet? We are getting closer, but we are not there yet....

We will have a good time, regardless how many show up.

If you have not reserved your spot, you should do it now because we want to meet all our iRV2 friends that we can.

Come join the party!

No idea of the schedule yet either, but I still plan to bring a mountain dulcimer and some playing spoons. What musical instruments might anyone else be bringing? And playing? And what tunes should I learn?!!!

Cheers!

Sue

There you go! Bring entertainment, and there will be no need for scheduled "event" entertainment. Like I said before ... a flash mob of RVers can make their own rally.
