We recommend the restaurant below. We dined there the last time we were in Amana and the German food was excellent. Karen (DW – maiden name “Schwiegeraht”) just checked “Trip Advisor” and it is rated the #1 restaurant in Amana.
Ronneburg Restaurant
4408 220th Trail
Amana, IA 52203
This landmark restaurant is enjoyed by local residents as well as our many visitors. Sometimes, all you really want is a simple, old-fashioned meal. The historical Ronneburg Restaurant is located in an original communal kitchen, where thick plaster and brick walls complete the ambiance for your traditional family-style dining.
For the past 60 years serving German and American dishes, sandwiches and lighter meals, plus hearty breakfasts.
Enjoy our Sauerbraten, Wiener Schnitzel & Jaeger Schnitzel plus potato dumplings, spaetzle and homemade soups.
Join your friends in our Lounge. We proudly serve locally produced wines, beers and sodas. Plus we stock a full bar.
Reserve our enclosed rooftop Wine & Beer Garden or our downstairs Bavarian Room for your gatherings and events.

Has registration opened up or should we contact the campground ourselves?
Thanks,
Dan

I called and made my reservations. I had to leave a voice message but they called me back within the hour to confirm.

The road to the campground is paved. The roads in the campground and the sites were gravel/rock as you described however we didn't notice any dust, not even from our rental car. Might of been the slow speeds we drive through a campground or the humidity but it didn't seem to be a problem at the time.

It's with great pleasure to announce the location and date of the 2013 National Rally; September 8-14 - Amana Colonies. The dates were choosen in hopes that some of our members might be on extended trips over labor day weekend enjoying the end of the summer and could swing by the National on their way back south. It's our intent to move around the National so it will be in new and interesting locations and we felt that the Amana Colonies would be the perfect place to experience a beautiful rally in a community that is as beaitful as our wonderful iRV2 members!

Our event will be hosted at the Amana Colonies RV Park & Event Center, a 60-acre campground, RV park, and event facility located in the heart of Iowa's historic Amana Colonies. This National Historic Landmark hosts over a million visitors each year. Featuring seven historic villages in close proximity, the area is famous for its Old World charm and hospitality. You'll find excellent restaurants, historic architecture, unique shops, and fascinating museums.
You can read move about the Amana Colonies here on Wikipedia. Our National Rally will be hosted at the Amana Colonies RV Park & Event Center where we currently have 150 sites reserved. We will be promoting this rally extensively and expect it to be a lot of fun.
As I mentioned previously our rally has grown in size and it's now to time to change from the single couple who function as the sole Wagonmasters (which as been the norm in the past) to a team based approach. In the month ahead we will be posting a list of tasks that need to be completed and correlating committees which will be responsible for making sure those items are done. An example will be the entertainment committee who will be responsible for coming up with ideas for fun things to do during the event. A dining committee who will help us select which caterers will be used and also to make sure seating and dining runs smoothly during the rally. A welcoming committee who will be responsible for greeting our wonderful members as they arrive, etc.

The cost of the events and dining will be in a similar price range as the 2012 rally and the camping is quite reasonable with rates of $23 per night. More details on the costs, how to reserve your spot and all the other pertinent information will be available soon!
We look forward to a wonder rally in Amana!

Hi Andy,
If you are going to have seminars, I'd like to volunteer to give one on workamping. NO, it would not be an Amazon only talk! I have learned so much working with our campers and visiting other companies that use campers that I think I have some strategies for how to plan your work year that I could impart, as well as great locations to find workamping opportunities.
If no seminar, are you going to have a marketplace where I could possibly park a table and talk to campers about Amazon? I'd appreciate knowing!
Many Thanks!
PamelaP

DW and I drove through the campground recently towing our trailer. We were not driving fast and I don't think it was a particularly dry period because it had rained the day before and was about to start raining the day we were there. I was surprised how much dust we created. The Suburban and trailer were obviously much dirtier after we went through the campground.
Will the dust be a problem during a rally? I don't know. I asked the campground staff about the roads and they said it's worked so far without major problems.
