The attendee members are not asking for our rally coordinators to assign sites. That was never the issue. The problem is, when making our reservations,CG personnel have told some they can request a certain site & others are told no site assignments will be made until we actually arrive.
All we're asking for is a consistent answer from the CG on whether we can or can't request a specific site when we call to reserve.

Actually I think the members do not want the campground OR the rally coordinators to assign sites. We want to be able to request our site as we have done in the past. We have friends that we do not see on a regular basis and would like to camp near them at the rally. The point John RR made was, we the members pay for the site as well as travel and rally fees. We should have the flexibility of choosing where we park.
As Dave said, there are those with mobility issues who do not require handicap sites and don't want to take them away from those who need them, but they need to be near the rally center. That is not an unreasonable request.

Hey guys .... I just spoke with the campground.
I hope that I can dampen perceptions a little bit by explaining what to expect " going forward" when you call the campground.
1. The campground will fill your request for a (site) product that meets your needs. What this means is that the CG will book a 50A, Full Hookup (FH) site and you are guaranteed that product. If at that time you book a FH handicap site, that's what you will get when you arrive at the CG. If you request a 30A FH, you'll get one of those. I believe that's all you need to be concerned about.
2. Gita has requested that you please NOT ask for a site number when you book, it's just too confusing. Your site(s) will be issued to you when you arrive. Please do not expect that a site number will be given to you when you call and request a reservation. There are a number of reasons for this as anything can happen between now and September. I am asking to please allow the CG to do their job and please don't be concerned as you will get what you booked and are paying for.
3. If you want to park with your friends and you all have similar site types, please make plans to show up together. The CG said that they will do their best to park a party of friends together IF at all possible.
4. Gita told me this evening that your site reservation will be held using your credit card however a charge will not be posted against the card unless you bail out at the last minute or after you arrive and pay for the entire stay. The CG prefers to only negotiate 1 credit card transaction. If you prefer to pay for your entire reservation up front, please let the CG know that when you call. When you do call the CG, Gita will note the credit card number, your name and phone number. Please make sure to use the same name and phone number in the RegOnLine application.
5. Let's try to keep this process as simple as possible. Call, book (for your needs) and we'll see you in September.
6. Q: How do I know I will have a site come September?
A: We will be periodically getting a reservation summary list from the CG. When you notify gMw that you have booked, you will be listed on our list of attendees. We will cross match the reservation list from the campground, the on-line list that we have posted to the RegOnLine registrations when those are transacted. Everyone should be familiar with the "(Paid)" tag next to your on-line listing which means you're all set.
If one or the other needed registration tasks is not right, we'll flag that party and we'll do our best verify and resolve the reservation issue. In the past we have seen when people book the campground and had not booked their rally fees on-line. We have also seen where the registration fee was paid but the attendee failed to book a campsite.

Of coursed there are varying degrees of disability where a dedicated handicap sites can accommodate specific disabilities. The Elkhart Campground designates handicap sites as those sites that are closest to the recreation center. In of themselves they are not marked as handicap sites but are only extended to the guests as a requested accommodation. In the most recent past we have not formally listed the availability of handicapped sites however if a party could be placed as close as possible to the rec center, that request may have been granted by the campground.
I hope by offering this option that we have not added a complexity layer, confusion and more questions than answers. There are only a finite number of sites that are close to the rally center however the CG will do its best to accommodate a handicap request.
A fine line can be drawn in the sand where a need either exists or not and only the attendee knows if a need exists or not. Gray area scenarios as explained are difficult to plan for and accommodate however I am glad that the accommodation meets the needs of Dave & Jo.

So we may or may not be able to park close to some close friends, especially if we arrive late in the day

Wizard, Come April, I expect to be parking with approximately 6 to 8 coaches at the FMCA Rally in Perry, GA. There are going to be 2000+ rigs on the property. The Rally Team said that they would park us together if we go into the parking area as a group. To make that process just a bit more involved each of the rigs needs to display a sheet on the inside of the window listing the party name and the coach count, eg: 1/8 - 2/8 etc.
I can assure you that all the folks in that party will make an effort to arrive at the same time since it is important for these attendees to park as a group. What really works best to arrive on the property early in the day however wait times to be parked have exceeded a few hours.
I see no challenges for the 150 or so attendees of our rally to make life less complex for the rally team by being ready to park with your party at a pre determined time created by the party. As far as I can tell, this has not been a major issue at any of our rallies unless the sites were sequentially booked by the campground when the reservations were made. That said, IF you call the CG and book a party at the same time requesting "X" number of sites, I expect that the CG will try to book those sites together. If that's NOT the case, please let me know. That said I hope if a group books "X" number of sites that the appointed group leader will make sure that all the members of the party arrive and pay for their sites.
That said it is likely that 1 or more attendees may get unavoidably delayed by mechanical breakdown or other issue out of control of the group. That issue will have to be dealt with by the attendee group and the CG.
Please do the best that you can to meet and park together as a group whether that's early or late in the day. Coordinate your time over a mobile device with the other members of your party. If it's important for the entire party to park together, then I'm sure everything will go as planned. Call the campground and update your arrival expectations. I'm sure they will work with you.

2016 rv rally -elkhart , ind.
Toney and Elwanda Murphy will be there. We just made reservations with Zita at the campground. We most likely will arrive on the 11th and leave on the 18th. We requested 50amp full hook up. Zita said that will not be a problem.

When I made my reservation I told them I needed 2 sites a 50 amp site for me and a 30 amp site for my brother. I said we wanted to be beside each other but we were also with the rally and wanted to be close to friends. The lady told me no problem. So both Lee Dawson & Bill Dawson are booked and looking forward to having a great time in September.

Kate booked us a site at the campground, or should I say they have our name and said they are assigning sites later. Oh well hope they find us one that we fit into when we get there. Jim
