Brenda,
Do you remember who you talked to? When I called I got the same response Don and Linda got: we would get a site, but it may not be assigned until we got there. Seems like they could do better this far in advance.

No I didn't get her name. Having worked in campgrounds, I also know they do assign your site when you make the reservation, they just don't want to tell you your site # in case they need to make a switch. I would think with 100+ attendees, there will be a lot of folks wanting to know where they will be located. We have always chosen our sites at previous rallies.

Hi Folks (All). I was asked to make a comment about this. Please know that we left it totally up to the campground to make the site assignments.
It would make our team's job much too complicated to assign sites therefore the campground will be doing the site assignments. The staff at the campground will know if your RV will fit and which sites will meet your needs.
Most likely you will be speaking to lady by the name of "Gita". Please also let her know if you are a 30A coach since they have those sites available. The sites are basically the same I understand and there's a $3 savings per night. The 50A sites will better serve those rigs that need the power. Last year we had cancellations because we ran out of 50s but then again those folks tried to register at the last possible minute.
IF you need a 50A site, register early.
Per my earlier post, from the 15th and on, the campground will begin booking sites for the rally.
Don't forget to tell Gita that you are with the Rally.

Mike,
I wish the campground would be consistent in their policy. When I called, I was told they couldn't assign a specific site. Yet, when someone else calls they have no problem getting the site they want. I don't think anyone expects the iRV2 crew to make any site assignments.
We called early to assure we could get a site close to the meeting rooms since walking is becoming more of an issue for both of us. We don't want a handicapped site because there's likely others that may need those sites more than us. Gita told me they couldn't assign sites but that they could 'probably' get us a site near the building. Conveniently vague.
Last year at this time we requested and got the site we wanted at the KOA in Nashville. I know each campground has their own way of doing business. But for the size of our rally I think they should be able to plan better this far in advance.

To be told to call back later to get your site asignment is a rather poor choice given this age of the computer. The ability to get your choice goes hand in hand with registering earlier rather than waiting to see where you are going to be assigned by registering at a later date and then finding it's not what you want.
I would think this will lead to more cancelations once learning it's not where you want to be parked especially when there is no time frame given by them as to when you can call back to find out where you will be parked.
Given the total costs of sites, Rally Registration, and travel expenses involved and couple with what I am sure is going to include the lack of ability to get a site asignment by the time the rally fee is due is going to have an adverse effect on many who would otherwise like to attend.
I have no problem taking what site I am assigned for a overnight with no reservation but do when it comes to paying good money well in advance for a enjoyable stay.
Thank you and your staff for pulling this event together and as already mentioned there is no way site assignment should be made by you all, it falls squarely on the shoulders of the campground.
I'm posting this with first hand knowledge of registering with in the past hour.
