Panoramic Shot .... Official Photographer

So who is going to be the person that will capture the moment in "Panorama at Bethpage" that will make the cut for the top of the main forum page?

I hope that there will be a lot of entries! Remember we need someone to be the "Official" photographer for the Rally. The Official Photographer is going to be the person that is always there taking pictures of everything!

The pictures can be placed on-line and should be made available to view, slideshow, downloaded or commercially printed as required. There are so many options for this and perhaps someone out there has a recommendation for the easiest site that will support these requirements.

I would also ask that all attendee pictures be uploaded to our Bethpage Phote Album. Everyone that atteneds the rally that takes a pictures is invited to upload their shots to the iRV2 Photo Gallery.

Here is the Album that was started. I would ask that we upload our pictures into the same album since all the pictures will be easy to find. The album is public.

Just a little refresher, for photos to qualify for use as the header:
  • Minimum 1260x150 pixels. They can be larger, but it is important that the cropped area be approx 8.4 times as wide as it is high.
  • High quality photos.
  • The iRV2.com logo will cover up a portion of the left side of the displayed photo. Frame your subject matter to be on the right 2/3 of the photo.
  • Take the photo from VERY FAR away if it is a single shot. This makes the best cropping for a panorama.
For those of you who have photo editing software that will create a panorama from a series of individual, adjacent photos: Try to take at least half a dozen side-by-side pics as you pan from side to side & overlap the shots. At least with my software, the higher number of photos gives the software a better chance of merging the series of photos together more seamlessly.

So don't forget your cameras! See ya at the Rally!!

My camera has a function called stitching.

I just haven't mastered it

As Lori said about side-by-side photos. Stand in one spot (tripod very beneficial here), take a picture being sure to notice the edge structures in the frame. Snap the picture, then move it to take the next picture lining up the structure in the side of the frame and overlapping it. Snap, and continue process. The stitching software is pretty forgiving, but if you are really off in height or side framing you will notice it. Do not change the focal length of the lens or any other settings when you are going to stitch a panoramic view. it will be to noticeable.

Ah! I should have signed up just to take pictures.

Ah Driver! I'd like to but all our medical appointments fall within that time frame and have to be kept. One of these days we'll make one so we can put a face to all the "worthless information." I have already met Seajay, and he will be there with sailor bell bottoms on. (errr bells on.)

This is a free program that was referenced to me. Microsoft Research 'I.C.E.' Image Composite Editor (64-Bit) - Microsoft Research . Pretty simple to use and great results.

I can't seem to be able to upload to Driver's Bethpage album. Anyway, here's my effort at a panorama banner photo:

I think I fixed the hyperlink to the albums so you can view newly uploaded photos. As of tonight, there are 25 photos there.

Looks like Beth Page is shown on the banner on the top of the page.
