Potential National Rally Sites

Quite some time back, I put together a listing of potential national rally locations for iRV2...I have no idea where to even find that list now if it even still exists somewhere.....

However, I do remember "recommending" two locations that might have the amenities and availability for hosting a large event after making phone calls to the managers of both parks and talking with them at length about our needs

River Country RV Park in Gadsden, Alabama
and
Sun Roamers RV Park in Picayune, Mississippi

Recently RustyJC and I stayed at both of these RV parks on our trip to and from Tennessee and after "laying eyes" on both of them in person, I recommend taking them both off that list.

They were nice enough rv parks, but really not adequate for what you are looking for to host a national rally. I would stay at either place individually or even recommend them for a small local rally, but neither have the capability to handle the number of sites potentially needed for a large rally.

I agree. Love to stay at River Country every time we pass through, but as a large rally site, I just don't see it. There are a few touristy things around there, but it is nothing that would excite me for a longer stay than a day or two.

At this time we have eclipsed the total number of folks (rigs) that have attended a National Rally and it appears that we will establish a new benchmark in 2014. We are still accepting reservations for another 90+ days so it is possible that we will book out all 200 sites. Not to worry though because Ocean Lakes has 800+ sites so there's plenty of room for overflow. (Keep on bookin!)

As our rallies develop and grow, it maybe impossible to keep it contained to a resort setting however what won't be missing are all the amenities that iRV2 members expect from their National.

In the past, it was normal that 1 to 4 persons were able to manage the rally however in 2014 there are 5 committees (10 people) that are working full time together to provide all of the different services that will make this rally outstanding.

As we grow, we will always keep in mind what works, continue to provide the expected amenities as in the past while developing new features that will make the National Rallies to come events to remember.

Thanks for the info Sandy. It's always good to know about future potential CG's.

There were 46 rigs when our region hosted the 2009 & we had 15 people helping coordinate that; 43 rigs were at last year's with just 2 of us to pull it together. Believe me, I much prefer the former!

We will have a number of volunteers that will assist with all types of jobs and without those folks lending a helping hand it would be impossible to provide all the labor that's needed to put an event like this together. Each of the committee leaders have a number of people that will help them so at the end of the day, many hands make light work.

In the photo below, there's just about 1,000 chairs in the Recreation Center and we are going to have to move just about all of them to configure our floorplan.

Rallies and Groups

Ocean Lakes' Recreation Building features 17,000 square feet of climate controlled space only 180 feet from the ocean. It can easily seat 1,000 guests and we have hosted dinners for even more than that! Our raised stage is large with lights and sound to accommodate any meeting, but is excellent for entertainment. Moveable partitions form three smaller meeting rooms. Our commercial style kitchen is great for cooking or catering. Ocean Lakes teammates provide outstanding customer service and are always on hand to assist our guests.

I made a small math error in my enthusiasm.

There are 102 days remaining until the rally starts and 72 days to the cut-off of registrations. Talk about your "Tempus Fugit!"

Bottom line .... still plenty of time to book your site and join in the fun.
