Knoxville or Maryville.
I'm gonna rent an HD for a day or two while I'm down there. And there are renting dealerships in either town above.

Depending on the location of the dealer in each town, but Rand McNally puts both 30 miles from Sevierville. I expect Maryville would be a prettier ride.

John, I would go to Maryville. It is easy to get there from the campground WITHOUT the hassle of traffic. (Back roads that are a PRETTY drive) With Knoxville you will have the traffic hassle.
Besides, that is where my cousin (Who has helped a lot with what where and who when I need info for the rally) is living. So I have been there several times. Nice little town.

I rode "Deals Gap" on A Harley just outside Cherokee N.C. in the Smokies this summer - 318 turns in 11 miles, most excellent MC ride.

Maryville it is then. when we get closer, I'll have to reserve a bike for probably 2 days. Tail of the Dragon (Deals Gap) is certainly on my TDD list.
Thanks

Hey John. We will be bringing the wing, We will have the new toyhauler in a few weeks and get everything ready. Lets plan to do that. I can give up a few tourist traps to ride. The stories are great, The closest we come here is a ride on the 2 lane along the mountains.

Jim
you're on. I haven't decided yet whether to rent one or have my daughter and SIL trailer my bike down (I may be able to borrow a trailer). But either we I am planning a day or two of riding.

Like the saying goes. "Live to Ride " Thats me. I put over 20k on the wing this last year, The New camper will obsorb some of that but the road will still be under the wheels.

Wish I could figger out a way to bring the BMW (K1200GT). If I don't, I'll probably rent a Fat Boy and do some riding as well.

I dunno - since Jim has that fancy new toyhauler, I think he oughta just drop by Houston on his way to Tennessee and pick up my bike for me. After the National, he can drop it off on his way home.

We were not going to go that way , either way. If you leave the keys. (I would need the keys to get it in and out you know.) After our stop over in Chicago after the rally , and if I remember to come back that way. (You know I am getting old and fore get easy.) I don't see a problem
