I have a '99 Imperial, which I've had since '01. I've been very impressed with the quality of the unit. Fortunately, I have not had any significant issues which I would be complaining about. I take care of all maintenance issues and stay on top of them and I guess that's why the unit has been so good.
From my prospective, although Holiday Rambler isn't the company it was, there are still part available and can be adapted if need be. Good luck,

Good Rigs
I bought my '88 Imperial 3 years ago and love it. It is solid and well built. I've made some modifications to mine, but left it basically as is.
Mine had 67,000 miles on it and I'm the 4th owner. Drives good, handles good, comfortable. Not as pretty as a newer one due to age, but not bad looking either. Mine is all aluminum, which keeps it looking pretty good. The second owner had kept all his receipts from maintenance and purchases, the guy I bought it from had left them, so I kinda know the history on mine. Also had almost all the manuals on everything.
Enjoy your motorhome!

I've had 4 HR Imperials, including a 33' 1987. They were all top-quality rigs.
You should check the manufacture dates on the tires. Even if the tires "look" good, they can be prone to failure after 7-8 years. With tag-axles, there are 8 tires that may need to be replaced. 19.5 tires can be very expensive.
