1988 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite XL

Hi,
I am thinking of buying this for $6K.
It is in road-worthy condition, looks well-cared for, cosmetically good in & out. I am checking it out tomorrow.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It was a very popular motorhome in its day ,if it has been taken care of you will get good use out of it .I can't think of any known problem those units had that being said it is 30plus years old so check for old leaks that may have done some damage other than that you will most likely have the normal problems we all have/ water pumps .water heater , ac units ,but you could have those same problems on a 5 yr old rig .The price is right but I will warn you if you ain't" a handyman type guy it will cost much more to fix things if you have to hire it done . You can count on some things being broke or will brake as you use it .

Swampdog, Thank you for the above information! My wife and I bought a 1988 HRC Aluma-Lite XL this past Labor Day weekend. It will need some work and updates, but the purchase price was well within our budget, and the unit seems to have "good bones," no signs of roof leak/damage, fan vents, lights, plumbing, outlets are in working condition, road worthy. The generator turns over, but I haven't gotten it to start up and run yet. We are newbies to motorhome rving and appreciate any tips/ideas/info anyone may have to share, especially with this "vintage" rv! Glad to find this forum; Looking forward to the adventure!
