1st time 5er owner
Just upgraded from a 12' tent trailer to a 2014 35' Montana Mountaineer. Found a deal I couldn't pass up. Don't even have a truck yet! Hoping to learn a lot in the next month and a half before we head down south.

Welcome to the forum,
Good luck in your search for a truck. Make sure to get enough truck to handle the 5er .

Congrat's on the new Mountaineer. Good luck selecting the right tow vehicle. Don't listen to your RV salesman or you could be in the same position as this fellow.

From personal experience, I would shy away from the Ford HD 6 litre. We have a 6.7 litre F350 which pulls our 10K 5er. Come back here while your researching a tow vehicle...... Lots of great info here. Good luck

Well, that was a bold move. Make sure you get enough truck to pull the beast.

Get as big a truck as you can preferably a 1 ton dually, I started with the same 5er as you and a 3/4 ton and 3 years later I went to 41ft 16000 lbs and had to upgrade truck as well. Good luck my Montana was awsome, and I know yours will be as well.

Always loved the Montana. We had a Jayco designer topped out at 16k. We had a 05 350 dually that pulled flawlessly. I know many had issues with the 6.0 diesel, including my brother in law, but ours was perfect. Traded it in October as part of our class a purchase, and it was sold the next day with 42k miles.... Whatever you decide, more is always better for a truck! Welcome and travel safe
