2011 Winnebago Vista 33K Newbie Va Beach, VA.
My name is Alan and I take possession of my first motor home tomorrow. I like to think I got a pretty good deal(at least one that lets me sleep at night). I bought a 2011 Winnebago Vista 32K with only 1500 miles on it. Previous owner bought and only used twice to go to the races in Richmond. He wanted to get rid of it and I was the one that took it off of his hands. I married into a Winnebago family for the last 10 years so I am pretty familiar with the big "W" but always on the look out for some do's and dont's with the new to me Vista. We have two little girls that are gonna get their use out of the bunk beds and we have moto-dog named Nimitz that is going to get his use out of the floor. Always open for advice to keep me from doing something stupid or any can't live without mods. Maiden voyage is next week at a campground right down the road. Thanks in advance.
Alan

Welcome Alan. My advice would be to sit down with all the manuals and study them. Some units require you to have engine running before you split jacks and slides. My Suncruiser does, for example.
Run the generator per your owners manual and keep up with the maintenance. They are great when running properly. You will appreciate the AC running in the coach with family on the road. Gets pretty hot in the VA summertime on the road without the coach air running.
Biggest do: use it and enjoy. Build the memories with your family for as long as you can. We have camped or RV'd for over 30 years. Kids still talk about some of our trips.
Best to you and your family.

ABSOLUTELY! Get out on the road and start figuring everything out.
There's a learning curve for sure, but that's part of the experience right? So I say pack everyone up and enjoy your new found freedom.
Also, there is a LOT of resource here on this forum. This is the best group of folks you will find. So feel free to ask away.
Get on youtube, get on IRV2, get on google and ask anything. It's all out there, and congrats.... you just found a new lifestyle that will make you think twice about your old one.

we are in Lee Hall and take a lot of short trips to Newport News Park; very nice hiking trails there and programs from the rangers. It also helped us get use to RVing. we ran home a lot to get stuff
happy RVing
